A conservatorship has been filed for former pornographic actor, Ron Jeremy, to treat his dementia.
Conservatorship Filed For Ron Jeremy
Jeremy’s sister was the one to ask a professional fiduciary to file the petition for conservatorship: “Susan Billotte, sister of Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, hereby nominates Ellen S. Finkelberg to act as Temporary and Permanent Conservator of the Person and Estate of Ronald Jeremy Hyatt.”
From a petition obtained by The Blast, "Proposed conservatee is a 69-year-old man who is concurrently incarcerated at the Twins Towers-Mens Central Jail. He has been found incompetent to stand trial in a criminal case due to a diagnosis with symptoms of Lewy body dementia and has a pending transfer to a state hospital. He is unable to express a preference of the proposed conservatee concerning the appointment of any temporary conservator proposed in this petition."
Ron Jeremy's Sister Asks For Petition
Further, the petition filed today continues, “The proposed conservatee's criminal attorneys were given POA for his finances. It's proposed that it’s in the conservatee's best interest that his assets be handled by a conservator. Due to the pending transfer to a state hospital, it is urgent that a conservatorship be established so that Petitioner can have authority to place proposed conservatee in a privately-secured perimeter facility specializing in treatment of dementia."
As for character and estimated value of the property of the estate, the total value is $635,000, and his real property’s estimated value is $2.8 million, in addition to the estate.
His Doctor's Capacity Declaration
From his doctor’s capacity declaration, his physician filed in support of the petition for the conservatorship. According to his physician, Ron Jeremy “does not have issues related to mood. [His current] deficits are neurocognitive rather than psychiatric.”
His physician added, “[The] patient has a major neurocognitive disorder that is degenerative and progressively getting worse.”
In 2021, The Blast previously reported that Jeremy was indicted on 30 sexual assault charges, with a total of 21 victims. The charges date back to 1996, spanning 23 years, with the victims ranging in age from 15 to 51. NPR noted that he pleaded not guilty to those counts of sexual assault, including 12 counts of rape.
Jeremy's assault charges date back to 2020. In August of 2020, The Blast reported on 20 sexual assault charges brought against Jeremy. Later, in November of 2020, one of Jeremy's alleged sexual assault victims sued him. In the lawsuit, his alleged victim Charity Carson said Jeremy lured her into a hotel bathroom and attacked her. Since his arrest in 2020, Jeremy has remained in jail.
According to Rolling Stone, this past January, it was declared that he was incapable of standing trial for those crimes, and he was committed to a mental health facility. As part of being committed, he can be legally held for up to two years.
