Jena Malone's 'Hunger Games' Success 'Tied' To This 'Traumatic' Event

Jena Malone revealed that she was sexually assaulted while filming the final installment of the Hunger Games. The actress revealed the horrific incident on social media with a hauntingly beautiful photo.

The actress shared the shocking news on Instagram in a lengthy post. At first, fans believed that the post was her documenting a beautiful moment because of the way the sun was beaming in the picture and Jena, while far away from the lens isn’t giving off a sad vibe, somber, sure but sad, no way.

But reading the caption told a story that was troubling and unfair. “Trigger Warning” she cautions her fans before reading.

“This photo was taken right after I wrapped mocking Jay part two and I had to say goodbye to everyone on set. We were shooting in a beautiful estate in the countryside of France and I asked the driver to let me out in this field so I could cry and capture this moment,” she recalls.

“Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me, was going thru a bad break up and also was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with,” she writes with a casual tone. “I was so full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play. A swirling mix of emotions im only now just learning to sort thru.”

The trauma was a lot for Jena, so much so, that she hadn’t even realized how serious it was getting. “I wish it wasn’t tied to such a traumatic event for me but that is the real wildness of life I guess. How to hold the chaos with the beauty.”

Jena didn’t reveal who attacked her but she referred to them as a friend and shared that she is healing even if it's taking a minute.

The actress insisted that the post isn’t about sadness as she is taking control back and healing more and more every day. “I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn thru restorative justice, how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself,” she says of her healing process.

As for the film, Jena is still struggling to accept the film and actually embrace the good times or even talk about the movie in a positive light.

“It’s been hard to talk about the hunger games and Johanna Mason without feeling the sharpness of this moment in time but I’m ready to move thru it and reclaim the joy and accomplishment I felt.”

Whatever strength Jena has, she is hoping to share it with other survivors. “Lots of love to you survivors out there. The process is so slow and nonlinear. I want to say im here for anyone who needs to talk or vent or open uncommunicated spaces within themselves. Please dm me if you need a safe space to be heard.
