Life could start looking a little 'mean' as the podcast queen embarks on her latest career venture; Fischer has joined the cast of the modern adaptation of another legendary piece of pop culture from the 2000s!

Fischer will be testing her 'cool mom' skills as a cast member of Paramount Pictures' nod to the "Mean Girls" franchise; the modern-day classic high school film, starring Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried, will receive another big screen installment based on the Broadway musical adaptation.

What Do We Know About The Upcoming 'Mean Girls' Film?

The next installment of the "Mean Girls" franchise will be a movie musical and will feature notable names affiliated with the original film. The 2004 film's writer, Tina Fey, is attached to the new film, along with Lorne Michaels, according to a December report from MovieWeb. The duo are producers of the new film, and Fey is also a writer.

The Blast recently shared Seyfried had been approached on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards by a reporter, who inquired whether the "Jennifer's Body" actress would be involved in any capacity! Seyfried played the lovable and misunderstood member of 'The Plastics,' Karen Smith, in the original film.

Although Seyfried has not officially committed to the film, she revealed she would be "very open" to the possibility.

The "Mean Girls" Broadway adaptation officially opened in the spring of 2018. The play would be recognized by the Tony Awards, as it racked up 12 nominations before it would close two years later. (per MovieWeb)

The latest "Mean Girls" film- a sequel to the 2004 film was released in 2011- isn't the only new and notable adaptation from the film's universe. "Freaky Friday," the 2003 remake starring "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan, and also directed by Mark Waters, could be closer to getting a sequel of its own!

Fischer is set to join the franchise's history of "cool moms" as she will play Cady Heron's mother in Paramount's upcoming adaptation, per Deadline!

The actress announced her involvement via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday afternoon, sharing a link to Deadline's news. She also retweeted the news on her official Twitter account.

The outlet's official Instagram reel announcement features Kelis' "Milkshake" in its post; the song played a crucial part in the OG film's soundtrack!

Fans were thrilled to see their favorite beloved Dunder Mifflin receptionist take on the role on social media; the role of Cady's mom was originally played by "Saturday Night Live" alumna Ana Gasteyer in the 2004 film.

"The only reason why I watched the U.S. 'Office'," a fan commented on Deadline's Twitter announcement.

"So this is a film based on a musical based on a film?" a Twitter user asked. "I can't wait for the musical!"

The new film adaptation is slated to stream on Paramount's official streaming service, Paramount Plus.

The original "Mean Girls" film will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year! The film was released in April 2004.
