“I didn’t have anywhere to run to, I didn’t have anybody to turn to, and when it gets bad enough that I had to run into the bathroom and eat my lunch on the toilet in the bathroom because I just felt too scared to eat lunch in the cafeteria,” she told “Good Morning America” in regards to the bullying she faced in high school.

Although she is no longer with the UFC after her contract came to an end, 28-year-old Paige VanZant is still fighting as she is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling as a wrestler and to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as a boxer.

When speaking on her decided to leave the UFC after her contract ended, she explained, “For me, I was a free agent at 26 years old. I was really young. It was nerve-wracking to know you’re leaving the powerhouse of combat sports. But now I know it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Since I’ve left, I’ve seen multiple fighters leave the UFC — and it’s not a diss at the UFC necessarily, but I think it’s more an awakening in fighters knowing there’s money out there and we’re going to be compensated for what we’re doing.”
