Please Let Giannis Antetokounmpo Be Himself On Social Media!

They don't call him the "Greek Freak" for nothing!

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is not only known for his skills on the court, but also his dad jokes and lighthearted, and sometimes "freaky" humor. He recently shared two photos of him and his longtime girlfriend Mariah Riddlesprigger on Instagram that caught a lot of attention. The first photo is just a normal shot of the two. The second photo is what people are sharing their uptight opinions about.

One thing that anyone who follows Antetokounmpo regularly will probably agree with is that the NBA star loves to have fun and laugh. Check out any of his Instagram post comments and you'll see just how many people truly appreciate that he shares the fun side of his life. He's constantly cracking jokes, doing funny things and just being who he is for his fans. One might say he puts on a great show, but I think you get what you see with Antetokounmpo.

So why are people leaving negative comments on his recent viral IG post? I'll tell you why - his hand is on his girlfriend's backside, that's why. (Insert eye roll here.)

Let Giannis be Giannis! Isn't that what draws so many fans, even non-NBA fans, to him? Comments like, "Who let this man run his own Insta account?," "This is very inappropriate Giannis Antetokounmpo," and "Second pic is not necessary," are simply unnecessary. The real question is why this one photo is so upsetting to some people that they feel the need to comment negatively instead of just continuing to scroll and mind their own business.

Hear me out for just a moment. Both Antetokounmpo and Riddlesprigger are adults, fully clothed, clearly in love, and just enjoying life. SHE'S SMILING IN THE PHOTO! So why do people need to jump into the comments to try to bring them down for having some fun?

And before you say that he has children as fans and what if they see that, let me interject. As a mother myself, that wouldn't even cross my mind. If your young child is allowed to be on social media without any supervision, then you must not mind an "inappropriate" post being seen then, right? Teenagers are more likely to be scrolling on IG, and let's face it, they see and do way worse things that this, so what is the issue?

One younger follower wrote, "I’m 15 years old ? I just want to see you play basketball," to which another fan responded, "watch his highlights?" and another added, "he is touching his lovers (wife’s) butt. It’s really not that serious. It’s called affection. It’s not too much or too little. Lol ? like move along little one."

The Bucks star's viral post wasn't the first time he let his freaky side out. And it won't be the last, I'm sure. Let's not forget the time that Riddlesprigger shared some photos of herself on her Instagram page and Antetokounmpo took to the comments to share some "freaky" thoughts, and it made for a hilarious look into the couple's personalities together.

His comments looked like this - "??When do you get home?," "???," "???You look beautiful," "??Put the kids to bed and cmon ?," and a few other similar comments. Each of his comments received thousands and thousands of likes and responses. Most of the responses were hilarious. "Bro we can see this," one person wrote. Another added, "Why is everyone so shocked? I’m lost that’s his boo? ??"

The question remains why are non-celebrities allowed to post things like Giannis has and not get much or any backlash (except for maybe an aunt or grandparent who happens to be on Instagram) but someone in the public eye isn't allowed to be themselves without some negativity being thrown their way?

It can't be all basketball all the time so why not let Antetokounmpo live up to his nickname the "Greek Freak" and be the happy, joking, down-to-Earth guy that he is on his social media pages? Regardless of the negative comments, Antetokounmpo's butt grabbing photo is one of the few Instagram posts that got more than 1 million likes, so that's got to say something, right?
