Model Paulina Porizkova has often discussed the positive and negative experiences of aging in the public eye.

Paulina Porizkova Shares The ‘Benefits’ Of Aging After Admitting She Needs A Hip Replacement!
In her latest Instagram post, the 57-year-old fashion model shared a selfie that featured her posing in a mask beside her doctor, Dr. Rosen. “A slight drawback of this wonderful second coming-of-age is the wear and tear. In my case, hip arthritis,” she wrote in the caption.
“My charming Dr. Rosen here is brandishing the needle which goes into my hip joints, the cortisone reducing some of the inflammation and reducing the pain, which can otherwise get sort of debilitating at times,” she explained.
“Yes, there is a definite hip replacement in my future. For now, I try to stave it off as long as possible with exercise, shots, acupuncture, and supplements,” she added. “And you know what? It’s still a fair trade for the benefits that come with aging: the beauty of the expanded wisdom I’ve acquired.”
She capped off her post with the hashtags #betweenjloandbettywhite, #gratitude, #wonkyhips, #hiparthritis, and #fairtradeoff.
Fans Take To The Comments To Offer Their Support And Share Stories!
It seems that Paulina isn’t the only one who needs to take another trip to the doctor soon. “Thanks, Paulina! This post reminded me that I need to connect with my orthopedist regarding my knee!” one fan commented. “Hope this gives you some relief! I’m off to get my colonoscopy… Yippy to the 50s!!!” another follower shared. Paulina replied, “hahaha. I’m due for one too! Enjoy the flat tummy after.”
“My daughter is 25 and scheduled for a hip replacement in a couple of months….she can’t wait to be pain-free. Sending you positive energy and I know the shot will alleviate some of the pain,” another fan commented. Paulina replied, “Oh, poor her! But the relief will be so welcome, I bet.” Another follower shared, “I had a hip replacement in 2020. Was fairly young at 58. Totally worth it. Good luck!”
Another fan asked, “Does the acupuncture help? I have an arthritic knee and have been contemplating doing that. Just curious. Thank you for sharing and I wish you health and mobility!” Paulina replied, “Since I do everything, I’m not sure how much they help individually, but all together it keeps me going for now.”
Another follower asked, “Have you looked into or considered PRP treatment?” Paulina replied, “Done it. Didn’t help me much.” Although some offered alternative treatments in the comments, it seems Paulina has done it all and knows what works best for her body!
Paulina Shares A Look At How She Spends Her Time In The Gym!
In a 29-second Instagram video, the “Anna” actress gave her followers a brief glimpse of how she stays so fit over fifty. Set to the tune of Sia’s “Unstoppable,” Paulina wrote, “Staying in shape after menopause takes a lot of frickin’ work. Especially when you have wonky hips.”
“I’ve had to cut down on my Pilates since I came back for the jungle shooting #beyondtheedge because my hips won’t cooperate. What I’m doing instead, for now, is some serious PT,” she explained. “I found an amazing personal trainer at my local Crunch, Shelly, who alternates hip PT with strength training. But because I’ve been doing so much traveling, my results are inconsistent.”
“So, yes, there are drawbacks to aging. One has to work a lot harder on things that were taken for granted. On the outside. On the inside, however, all the hard work already done is finally paying off,” she continued.
“I may not be as strong or as supple or as smooth as in my youth, but I am comfortable with my vulnerabilities, conscious of my weaknesses, proud of my strengths - and best of all, have the wisdom to put it all together and delight in the results,” she added, admitting that her gym “looks a little like a bad disco.”
