Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin's thigh gap needs to be seen to be believed. The 31-year-old five-time Olympic medalist, fresh from inking a movie deal in "Little Gymnasts," has been shouting out her own inner little gymnast by thanking one of the people who passed down the gene set – her mother. Nastia, raised by two Olympic gymnasts in Russia before moving to the U.S. as a child, today took to Instagram to wish mother Anna Kotchneva a happy 51st birthday. Check it out below.

Nastia, who hit up hiking trails with dog Harley during her 2020 travels, was, it would appear, also with her mother and a crowd, with her photo showing the mom-and-daughter moment as everyone posed outdoors and grinning from ear to ear.

Nastia, who showcased her Gold Medal body in the tightest of black spandex shorts and a hoodie, drew attention to her steely-strong legs, ones she's recently clapped back over as a troll asked to see her "gross skinny chicken legs" this month.
"We love you so much," Nastia wrote, with stories just before the shot showing mom Anna's jaw-dropping gymnastics moves during her Olympian days. "When people ask how I'm so flexible," she wrote to caption her mother's gravity-defying leotard stretch.
Nastia was hanging around gyms from a young age as her parents couldn't afford childcare when they trained, with the rest being history. The 2008 all-around champion has even spoken out about the way she was raised, telling Parents:
"Both of my parents were gymnasts -- world champions. I did start at 2 1/2 , 3 years old, but I feel like I was born with a little gymnastics in my blood and ever since I can remember, I've had such a passion for it."

Nastia may have had rigorous training as her life up until, and after, her retirement at the age of just 22, but the blonde has confirmed her parents didn't push her.
"I was very fortunate to have them as good role models within gymnastics and outside the sport," she continued, adding: "When I finally realized that my dad was an Olympic champion, I remember thinking, "I wanna be just like him. And I wanna be just like my mom and be a world champion."
