Catherine Zeta-Jones Hailed As 'Queen Of Public Transport' After Riding The Tube In London

Academy Award recipient Catherine Zeta-Jones is causing an entertaining ruckus on social media for her most recent deed involving public transport.

The Welsh actress, known for her decades of commendable acting range, was spotted taking a train in London, surprising fans and prompting them to hail her with a new name. 

Despite being a wealthy figure in the entertainment industry, Zeta-Jones rode the Tube not long ago in London without a care for people's opinions. She made a video of herself well at ease in the moving vehicle and shared it with her numerous fans on the gram. 

"Tube Time! London Transport!" the "Side Effects" star penned in the caption of the Instagram post, adding a thumbs-up emoji. The clip began with a view of Zeta-Jones' face, expressing delight in her train excursion as she said, "When you're the only one on the Tube, and you're very happy."

She later showed the train's interior, indicating no one else was in the vehicle. Afterward, she turned the camera back to her face, stating, "London, just me and public transport." The 53-year-old was bundled up in a woven coat, a gray cardigan, and a nude-colored shawl around her neck.

She added woven headwear to her look, similar to her coat, and concealed her face with huge sunglasses. As she filmed, voices could be heard in the background, possibly from an intercom, but her ears were plugged in with white earphones. The reel gained thousands of reactions, with many conveying amazement to see such a notary figure in public transport.

A commenter dubbed her the "Queen of public transport," while another fan praised her for looking like a "normal" person. "OMG! Imagine being on the Tube and sitting opposite you is Catherine Zeta-Jones!" a fan exclaimed. "I'd probably forget to breathe and be totally speechless with how shook I would be."

One other follower believed her use of the Tube was "cool" and a "rare sight," which they hoped she enjoyed. At the same time, a fifth commenter gushed, "You're the cutest, Catherine… I'm glad you're having a peaceful Tube ride: happy Tuesday, and enjoy your time in London, lovely. [white heart emoji]."

Another fan felt the post was "more realistic" and "more natural," which one user agreed to by calling it "absolutely sane."

Zeta-Jones may be the "Queen of public transport," but Wealthy Gorilla reports that she has a net worth of $150 million as of 2022, stemming from her multiple ventures including her acting portfolio.

In 2021, she was valued at $210 million, $60 million higher than her current state but the same in 2020. However, in 2019, she had a net worth of $200 million, and the year before, $150 million.

Zeta-Jones' net worth, when combined with her husband's, the legendary Michael Douglas, has a significant increase in their combined gross value, making them one of the wealthiest couples in the world.

Zeta-Jones is no stranger to causing her fans to go haywire with her antics on social media. Per reports, the "Wednesday" actress once entertained fans during the pandemic with an amusing dance video of herself, urging them to interpret her gestures which no one successfully did.

She eventually had to tell viewers what they saw as she updated her description, writing, "Charades gone wrong? I was Shakira "hips don't lie!! Genius! No one got it."   The "42nd Street" star shared some more interesting videos, including one showing her dog being washed, which got fans astounded at how well-mannered the pet was.

A commenter exclaimed, "Ohhhh, my God!! How sweet and cute!!!" while a second fan gushed, "She is absolutely adorable."

Despite being in her 50s, Zeta-Jones was still a sight to behold, as seen in a throwback picture during the Easter holidays of the same year. She sent well wishes to her supporters, who were very appreciative of the gesture, especially given the isolating period of COVID.
