Avril Lavigne Has Reportedly Called Off Her Engagement To Mod Sun Days After He Proclaimed She Saved His Life

Avril Lavigne has allegedly called off her engagement to rock singer Mod Sun, days after he proclaimed she "saved" and "changed" his life for the better. According to reports, Lavigne made the tough choice to ultimately end their relationship a year after Mod Sun proposed to her in Paris.

Mod Sun and Lavigne's breakup comes just hours after she was spotted hanging out with rapper Tyga. The duo was seen hugging before going their separate ways.

A few days ago, Mod Sun opened up about his battle with addiction and how his then-fiancée Lavigne helped change his life and made him want to be more mature and settle down.

According to a report by TMZ, pop punk artist Lavigne has called off her engagement to Mod Sun a year after he proposed to her in Paris. 

A source for the news outlet claims the couple tried their best to make things work between them, but they ultimately had to break up. The source also shared that there was no cheating from either party.

Before the news of their split, Lavigne was seen out having dinner with Tyga at the famous Nobu restaurant. The pair, who were dressed in casual clothing, reportedly looked extremely comfortable with each other and shared an intimate hug at the parking lot. Their meet-up might be nothing suspicious as they have allegedly hung out several times over the years as friends.

Lavigne and Mod Sun seemed to have been going strong and even set to walk down the aisle, so the news of the split comes as an absolute shock to fans. 

Last year, 35-year-old Mod Sun pulled out the stops to propose to Lavigne during their trip to Paris. The duo also took to Instagram to share the news along with photos of the romantic moment.

On Mod Sun's IG page, he shared a photo carousel of himself and Lavigne, with him on his knees as he asked for her hand in marriage. The pair looked happy in all the photos as they took a romantic tour of the city of love.

One of the pictures gave a close-up of Lavinge's stunning diamond engagement ring, while another showed the pair hugging and kissing while on a love-boat.

Mod Sun captioned the series of photos with a sentimental message to Lavigne in the form of a poem. He wrote, "The day we met I knew you were the one/ Together forever til our days are done/ I had a dream where I proposed in Paris/ I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it."

The singer continued, "I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes./You're too beautiful for my words to describe./ I grabbed your hand + took one last breath… I said "will you marry me?" + she said "yes."/ I love you Avril."

Lavigne on her part captioned her engagement announcement in French, writing, "Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022."

According to TMZ, a source claims the duo was still engaged three days ago before Mod Sun hit the road for his tour, so their sudden split might also be news to him. The source said, "They were together and engaged as of 3 days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed that's news to him."

While speaking with E! News recently, Mod Sun stated how his former fiancée, Lavigne, positively impacted his life. The "Battle Scars" singer claimed that he'd experienced a lot of positive transformation, all thanks to the pop-punk princess.

"I have found such a partner in this world to go through the chaos that life gives you," he said at the time. "I have found that person. I'm with a real grown woman who has gone through it all 10 times over and she makes me a better person."

Mod Sun spoke on how being with Lavigne had made him cool with "maturing," adding that she helped him to realize he's not a "childlike, messy" person.
