Actor Adam Driver and his wife, Joanne Tucker, are expecting their second child together.
The "Star Wars" alum, who was known for his role as Kylo Ren and the redeemed Ben Solo in the sequel trilogy, is so private that the public still does not know the name of the couple's first child.
'Star Wars' Alum Adam Driver And Wife Joanne Tucker Expecting Second Child Together
On Monday night, "Star Wars" fans were shocked to learn that "The Last Duel" actor was expecting his second child with his wife and college sweetheart, Joanne Tucker.
In photos obtained by Page Six, Tucker is seen looking visibly pregnant as the couple packs their car. Tucker made no attempt to hide her pregnant belly as she wore her puffy brown jacket unzipped. She wore a grey sweater underneath, along with black slacks and a blue beanie. The “White Noise” actor looked equally as low-key in a maroon long-sleeve shirt, dark slacks, and a black beanie.
Both Tucker and Driver met at Juilliard. From 2005 to 2009, Driver was a member of the Drama Division’s Group 38. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009 and the couple wed in a private ceremony in June 2013. Two years ago, the couple privately welcomed a son.
Tucker’s sister accidentally revealed the news to the world when she made her Instagram account public, which revealed photos of a pregnant Tucker and a joint baby shower as her sister referred to herself and Tucker as “new moms.”
Although both parents have yet to actually confirm their son’s birth or reveal his name, Driver took a break while filming “House of Gucci” in March 2021 to spend some time with his family in Rome. Driver was photographed playing with his son in the park while his wife stood nearby, holding the family dog on a leash.
Although he has not confirmed that he had a child, he has been cryptic about the possibility of having one. In 2017, the “65” actor told W magazine that he didn’t know if he could “love anything more” than his dog, saying, “Like I have a kid – maybe – and be like [gestures dismissively] … but the dog!”
Driver Wants You To ‘Forget’ That He Was In ‘Star Wars’
Although the “Girls” alum became a household name for his role as Kylo Ren, in an interview with the international news outlet, LeMatin, the 39-year-old actor made it clear that he does not want to return to a galaxy far, far away in order to pursue other roles.
When asked about a possible return to the Lucasfilm franchise, Driver replied, "This is not at all on the agenda," adding, “This experience will forever remain one of the highlights of my career, but I aspire to other adventures.”
He joked that he wanted to "disappear," adding, “I want to be forgotten so that I can be offered other very different projects.”
In a November 2021 interview with The Irish Times, Driver admitted that, although he likes working, he is ready to take a break from acting to focus on his growing family.
He admitted that recently he's been working a lot because the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown "kind of packed up everything in the schedule. I’d already committed to things in advance. And you don’t want to back out of your word."
"Plus, the idea of working when a lot of people didn’t have that opportunity felt like a gift," he added. "Now I kind of want to take a break from it for the foreseeable future.”
When asked what he plans to do with his free time, Driver replied, “You know: to be at home. I try to be at home as much as I can even when I’m shooting. So more at home.”
Adam Driver also said that he is "careful of how I move around," adding, “I need to protect people in my life who haven’t signed up to be an actor.” He also indicated that his new Hollywood star could potentially be detrimental to his career as an actor.
“An actor is supposed to be anonymous,” he added. “But now more than ever, I feel that as an actor, your privacy is in jeopardy. Everybody is a potential paparazzi because they can just pull out their phone and take a picture. It makes it hard to move around the world and live.”
Fans can next catch Adam Driver in the sci-fi thriller “65,” which hits theaters on March 10, 2023.
