Death Row Records is one of the most iconic record labels of all-time as it is home to legends such as 2Pac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. It was at its peak in the 1990s as they dominated the decade.
It’s Co-Founder, Michael “Harry-O” Harris, has been incarcerated for almost 30 years now due to being convicted for attempted murder and drug trafficking. Snoop has also been trying to put the work in to try to get him out of prison years in advance.
Trump Officially Pardons Michael ‘Harry-O’ Harris
According to The Daily Beast, Snoop had been trying to make this push and even tried to get help from Alice Marie Johnson in getting to Trump. Now, this pardon has officially been completed, according to AllHipHop.com. Harris is now on his way home. Harris original release date was in 2028.
“Harry-O had another 10 years and he may not have made it,” said Weldon Angelos to AllHipHop, who helped Snoop. “There’s COVID…it’s rampant, there’s 40,000 people infected in the federal prison system and 190 deaths and it’s rising every day.”
Snoop Proposed This Idea Last Month
The plan to finally get Harris out of prison was by Snoop last month. He ended up calling Angelos and that’s when they decided to reach out to Alice Marie Johnson.
“I knew about Harry-O and one of my partners had reached out to him about a year ago, asking if he needed help. [Harry-O] never got that letter…I knew Snoop wanted our help. Snoop called me like 2:30 in the morning on December 27th, wanting to get on with me and Hollis and (other members of the group) to talk about Harry-O.
Alice Marie Johnson Given Credit For Harris’ Pardon
Angelos continued to give Johnson praise for her work in getting Harris Home. He explained how the two have been good friends for a while now.
“And we set up a call with Alice Johnson,” Angelos continued.
“Alice Johnson is my good friend who has President Trump’s ear. President Trump has given Alice the opportunity to provide cases that he will grant if she signs off on it. I have worked with the White House closely and gotten commutations through President Trump. Really Alice Johnson is the on that got this done.”
Snoop Made His Pitch To Johnson On What Harris Meant To Him
Angelos also added that Johnson loved what Snoop had to say regarding Harris. He also explained that Trump sides with defendants in cases because he is supposedly one as well.
“We just let Snoop give his pitch to Alice on what Harry-O meant to him, you know, how important this person was to him. Alice listened. She was very impressed – not because it was Snoop or that (Harry-O) was the founder of Death Row Records. When she looked through the file that I had sent her, she was impressed that he had done a lot in the time he was in federal prison.
