There has been speculation over the last few weeks that Lil Wayne may be pardoned by Donald Trump before his final day as president, which is January. Joe Biden will officially be inaugurated as president on January 20. 

It is believed that Trump may be pardoning between 50-100 people on the 19th as planned. The Wayne rumors continue to float around but according to Bloomberg, there are documents ready to officially complete the pardon for Wayne’s federal firearms case from 2019.

If Wayne does in fact receive this pardon from Trump, this would bail him out of a very crazy situation. In December, the hip-hop legend plead guilty to possessing a loaded weapon. This was regarding a December 23, 2019 incident where he was found with a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition in it. 

The firearm was on a private jet that Wayne was on at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. Cocaine, ecstasy, and oxycodone were also found on the plane. Wayne could get 10 years in prison if convicted. Wayne is supposed to be sentenced on March 3. 

Trump considering pardoning Lil Wayne should be no surprise. Wayne shocked the world in October when he posted a photo of himself with Trump. In it, the two were seen after a meeting at the White House. They supposedly discussed the proposed “platinum plan” for Black Americans.

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus. Besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

Another rapper who could see freedom is Kodak Black, who endorsed Trump last fall as well. The Florida rapper has been rumored to be part of discussions that could have him pardoned by Trump as well. Kodak is currently serving a 46-month prison sentence due to falsifying information on gun applications. 

He was originally arrested at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami in May 2019. His sentencing took place in November of that year. Kodak has since helped people out in Broward County, FL for Thanksgiving and Christmas. 

When Wayne first came out about endorsing Trump in October, it was disappointing to many but not sadly not surprising. He’s come out multiple times when he’s made negative comments about the Black Lives Matter movement and was insensitive to police brutality incidents. The most notable moment came when asked about BLM during a 2016 Nightline interview. 

“That just sounds weird. I don’t even know why you put a name on it. It’s not a name. It’s not ‘whatever, whatever.’ It’s somebody got shot by a policeman for a fucked up reason … I am a young, black, rich motherf*cker. If that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf*ckers matter these days, I don’t know what it is. Don’t come at me with that dumb s*it, ma’am. My life matter, especially to my b*tches.”
