Rosie O'Donnell Is Speaking Up About The Little Discussed Toxic Ohio Train Derailment

"I've been reading all the news reports on this horrible train derailment and chemical spill, toxic poisoning in Ohio. And fish dying and chickens dying and animals getting sick and people feeling sick and then the EPA comes out with a very non-alarmist, everything's okay, don't worry about a thing statement," she said in a TikTok video. "And it's infuriating. I don't trust the EPA. I don't trust them. After 9/11, I don't know how anyone could."

O'Donnell brought up the fact that the EPA said it was safe to go back to downtown New York City near the World Trade Center after 9/11, while in fact it wasn't safe for anyone's health. "There was no clean up. There was dust everywhere. Toxic, horrible, cancer causing. And they lied to the American people," she continued. "I don't believe the EPA."

The former talk show host explained why she doesn't believe the EPA saying it's safe to be in the area of where the train derailed, spilling toxic chemicals. "They've poisoned hundreds of thousands of people. Their lives, ruined."

She then addressed the people who say from afar that if they were in this situation being near the chemical spill, they would just leave. "I heard a reporter say if I was there, I'd pack up my kids and go. Well, you know what? Not everyone can do that," she explained. "They don't have anywhere else to go. People are living month-to-month, week-to-week. They don't have stored up reserves to go stay in a hotel for two, three months, a year."

The water supply is also a huge concern for people in the area of the train derailment, as well as other states where the water goes, causing this horrific event to eventually affect people near and far from the actual derailment. "This is a tragedy of epic proportion, and it's criminal negligence by that chemical and train company," O'Donnell said. "And nothing's being done about it. It's not on the news enough. It's not something that people are talking about. It's like being pushed to the back burner."
