It seems like fans may finally know why Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly had an argument over Super Bowl weekend that almost ended their relationship.
Last Sunday, the 36-year-old actress shared a post about "dishonesty" and deleted most of her photos featuring the rocker, including their January 2022 engagement. Although many fans thought their relationship was over for good, they were seen at a marriage counselor's office the following day.
It looks like the couple is focused on trying to make their relationship work, although fans are still unsure what caused the headline-making couple's rift in the first place.
Megan Fox Reportedly Found DMs On Machine Gun Kelly's Phone That Led Her To He's 'Been Having An Affair'
Over the weekend, a source told Page Six that the couple almost broke up due to text messages that the "Jennifer's Body" actress found on the 32-year-old singer's phone.
A source told the outlet that Megan found “DM’s and text messages” on his phone that led her to “believe he has been having an affair.”
Many fans had already assumed that MGK had cheated given her caption about dishonesty. On Sunday, she wrote, “You can taste the dishonesty/ it’s all over your breath,” which are lyrics from Beyoncé’s “Pray You Catch Me.”
The song, which is about infidelity, seemed to be the biggest clue to their argument. Of course, nothing has been confirmed at this point.

A few hours after her post on Sunday, Megan completely deactivated her Instagram account and has provided fans with no updates as to the status of their relationship. However, one source did tell Page Six that the couple that MGK "really wants to make up" but it remains to be seen if the couple will be able to resolve their differences.
One insider told the outlet that “They are broken up, but Megan is seeing where they stand. She wants to see what they can salvage.”
However, this is different from what another source told PEOPLE only one day before. Their source said that Megan is "still upset" with her fiancé, but the two are “working through their issues” and emphasized that they “haven’t split.”
"Megan is still upset but is not giving up on their relationship," the source said. "He feels the same way. They are getting professional help because they want things to work out."
Megan Fox Reportedly Removed Her Engagement Ring Amid Machine Gun Kelly Fight
Last Monday, a day after the viral Instagram post, another insider told PEOPLE that Megan was “very upset” with the argument they had over the weekend, which was enough for her to remove her engagement ring.
“Megan is very upset. They had a fight over the weekend and Megan won’t speak to him,” an insider said. The source added that the couple “had issues in the past, but things seem pretty serious this time.” The source also said that the couple “haven’t officially called off the engagement” and are trying to work things out.
On that same Monday, sources told the Daily Mail that the couple spent two and a half hours inside a marriage counselor's office in California. It is unknown what they discussed, but the "Transformers" actress reportedly looked "visibly upset" as they left. The couple was seen leaving in separate cars.
However, the following day, which just so happened to be Valentine's Day, Page Six reported that the couple was photographed sitting in a car together. MGK was sitting in the driver's seat and looking down at his phone while Megan was looking down and away.
Sophie Lloyd Slams 'Meritless' Accusations That She's Behind The Couple's Rift
Regardless, on Wednesday, MGK's guitarist Sophie Lloyd wanted to shut down speculation that she was the one causing the rift between the couple.
“Sophie Lloyd is a professional, accomplished musician who has been needlessly dragged into the media based off of meritless accusations made by social media,” her management team told Page Six.
“Any suggestion that she has ever acted in an unprofessional manner or stepped out of her relationship are untrue,” the statement added. “It’s disrespectful to her as a female artist and poor journalism and social commentary to be reporting anything else.”
