Olivia Newton-John’s Sentimental Parting Words
The actress passed away last August after battling breast cancer. Since her emotional passing, her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi and her widower John Easterling have stayed away from the public eye and discussing the traumatic event.
The duo sat down for an in-depth interview with Today where Chloe, 37 shared, “The last words she could say to me was, ‘My sunshine,’” and made a point to say her mom her funny self until the end, “right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes.”
Chloe, whose father is Olivia’s first husband, Matt Lattanzi says she loves her mom “more than anything.” Losing her has been traumatic. “She's my mama. She's not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I'm so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John for so many people.”
John Easterling Talks To Olivia ‘Out Loud’
Olivia’s partner of over ten years shared how he is grieving the loss of his wife. “I'll just be walking around the house, or throwing the ball for the dogs and just speak to her out loud,” he admits.
John had to choke back tears a handful of times. “Every day, I miss Olivia terribly. And yet every day I'm really super grateful that I had 15 wonderful years with this extraordinary human being.”
He recalls her strength even on her worst days. “She had the willpower, even in her most difficult times, to really bring in the light and to bring in the love.” Like Chloe, he recalls her keeping her core personality throughout. “She was who she was all the way through.”
Olivia Newton-John Passed Away Peacefully
The news of the Grease actress's passing was shared on her Facebook page. “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer,” John wrote in the post.
The post continued on to share that even in her death, she will continue to help other people battling breast cancer. “Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”
The singer, even in death has one last gift for her fans: a duet of “Jolene” with long-time friend Dolly Parton.
Olivia Newton-John’s Duet Released Today
Chloe and John shared the duet with fans on Today, recorded just a few short months before her passing. “It actually has been a life raft. It has felt like a big hug from the universe,” she said of her mom’s music and the unwavering support from her fans.
“And I'm very grateful for all of the people who reached out to us and extended their heart and their connection.”
Soon after Olivia’s passing, John wrote a sweet message to his wife sending her off. “Our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural.”
