Jack Nicholson’s Daughter Describes Forced Hangouts And Rocky Relationship With Famous Dad

Jack Nicholson has five kids and allegedly only really speaks with two of them. Estranged daughter Tessa Gourinexplains her side.

In the aspiring actresses revealing interview with Daily Beast, she shared that her dad may be Jack Nicholson, but he wasn’t a parent to her. In fact, he wasn’t even around to raise her in any way growing up except financially here and there.

Tessa revealed that she grew up in a single-parent home with her mom who was in real estate but not in the Million Dollar Listing way. In the way where, she, her mom, and half-brother moved every time the rent went up.

While her mom wanted her to have a relationship with her “daddy Warbucks” type father, Tessa was good either way. “My mom wanted me to have a relationship with him, but he said he wasn’t interested.”

The 28-year-old described a time when her mom was desperate for her to have some kind of dialogue with her dad.

“When you’re a child, you don’t have a choice where you’re going, so if your mom is pushing you on someone who’s technically your father and he agrees to see you for anywhere between one hour and a couple of days, that’s where you’re going to go. I don’t know this person very well, we’ll just say that.”

She was quoted in Newsweek saying, “Have you ever been on a date and sensed that the other person just wasn’t feeling it? That’s pretty much how every interaction I have ever had with Jack Nicholson has gone.”

Tessa admits that she is now finally processing contradictions from her upbringing that have been “very painful” for her and continues to be.

Tessa talks about her dad in a pretty positive light for someone who didn’t have a strong relationship with him. She can see how she is like her dad in some ways especially when it comes to acting.

She is working with acting coach Tony Greco and utilizes method acting. “The Method is just something that ended up being what works for me the most.” She uses the different characters as coping mechanisms for her difficult upbringing.

“A huge reason why I’m so drawn to acting is because I have a really complicated life. Because of my life experiences, I have a large amount of conflicting emotions, and acting is a place for me to put those emotions. Method acting is all about examining people’s pathologies and why they do what they do, which is of interest to me.”

And like her daddy, she admits, “I’m also fucking crazy,” she notes “I’m not the poster child for sanity, and I do think that’s a little similar to my dad, from what I’ve read.”

She goes on to share that she isn’t mad at her dad, and she actually appreciates him as an actor, the only way she knows him.

“I really want this to come across: If I were to discredit anything about his acting, then that wouldn’t make me an artist, because making art and being the world’s greatest dad are not the same thing.”
