After making headlines for a bombastic claim that she wants to have a “cricket team” full of kids with husband Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra is taking a step back to further clarify the statement as fans have formulated all types of speculations in the wake of its reveal.

Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight” on Tuesday following news of the claim breaking across several major outlets, Chopra decided to explain what she really meant and what the comment means in the context of her current relationship with Jonas.

The actress told correspondent Rachel Smith that the comment was one that she had originally made “10 years ago,” and has shifted in the time since.

“Yes, that was a statement I made many years ago. What I was trying to say was, ‘Don’t hold on to statements I made like, 10 years ago,'” she explained about the comments that were revealed through several headlining stories over the weekend.

As for moving forward and the potential to have kids, Chopra added, “I will take whatever I get when it comes to Nick and I.” 

While speaking to “The Times” during the heavily-reported on interview, Chopra candidly admitted that “I do want children, as many as I can have. A cricket team? I’m not so sure.”

She then explained how easily Jonas took to Indian culture and customs, which furthered her wish to have as many kids as possible. During his visit, he was intimately intertwined with his wife’s family and culture which afforded him a unique perspective on it all that he previously didn’t have.

“Nick took to India like a fish to water. But just like a normal couple, you have to understand each other’s habits and what each other likes. So it’s more of an adventure than trying to figure out hurdles. None of it was really that hard. And quarantine gave us the ability to spend a lot of time together, which I’m really blessed by. Because with both of our careers it’s hard to find that kind of time,” Chopra said at the time of Jonas assimilating fairly easily to her culture.

On her forthcoming project “The White Tiger,” Chopra explained a bit to “ET” about the significance of the role and how it actually originated in India.

“This is one of those stories that originated from India but is completely universal,” she said of the new film. “The class disparity that we see — and even recently see in the U.S. — it’s massive and it’s super topical… South Asian stories, female stories and people of color are very important to me.”
