After spending the large majority of 2020 in isolation due to fears of contracting COVID-19, England’s monarch Queen Elizabeth is seemingly looking to resume business as usual as much as she can in the new year.

Per Vanity Fair correspondent Katie Nicholl, the 94-year-old ruler is looking to go back to as many of her Royal duties as the country’s laws will allow. The reporter said she is “keen,” to continue her efforts leading the monarchy, but wants to do so safely.

“There’s a keenness for Her Majesty to get back to doing what she does best, being visible,” the reporter recounted to “VF” of the Queen’s intentions, per a Royal source that she counts as a trusted informant. 

“Her belief has always been ‘You have to be seen to be believed’ and that is still very much Her Majesty’s view. She has had to reign from a screen for much of last year, we are all hoping this year will be different.”

Nicholl went on to mention that the Royal family is finally slated to reunite at the Trooping the Colour event set to take place over the summer, coinciding with Elizabeth’s 95th birthday. This event will even see the farther reaches of the monarch’s family reuniting for the special day.

Recent reports have pointed towards the notion that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are also planning to reunite with the Queen for this event, given that they haven’t spent time together all of 2020 due to quarantine and the fallout of “megxit.”

Over the weekend, it was reported that Elizabeth and Prince Phillip were administered the COVID-19 vaccine, a vital step towards the aging monarch being deemed fit to interact with greater society in her life moving forward.

The shot was administered “by a household doctor at Windsor Castle” which is the Royal property the couple have been quarantining at for a large duration of the past year.

A spokesperson for the Royal family said the Queen spoke on the vaccination “to prevent inaccuracies and further speculation.”

The reports didn’t specify which company’s COVID-19 vaccine the couple received, and it appears as though that information won’t be revealed any time soon, with the Palace saying that “no other details will be shared” about the procedure.

April 2020 was the one other major time Elizabeth spoke publicly to her constituents recently, offering a reassuring statement as the coronavirus pandemic first unfolded.

“I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time,” she said at the time, “a time of disruption in the life of our country; a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all.”
