In the fallout of "Megxit," Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been the subjects of intense scrutiny by supporters, the media, and even members of the British Royal Family.

Now, it appears that one of Markle's most ambitious goals since marrying the Prince, which was to become an official U.K. citizen, has apparently been "abandoned" as developments in the couple's lives continue.

Beyond that, the Duke and Duchess are reportedly in talks with the Queen to stage a meeting for the first time since their official resignation from Royal duties.

Previous reports have shown that Markle had an innate interest in becoming a citizen of the United Kingdom, but as the split between the couple and the core Royal Family grew ever greater as the year progressed, that decision was seemingly shelved.

Per a report from "The Telegraph" as well, due to circumstances in the couple's personal lives changing since their January announcement, Markle as "no reason" to continuing down the route of officially becoming a citizen of the United Kingdom.

The couple currently resides in a massive mansion in Montecito, California. The home is a part of a well-known community of Hollywood's elite that includes Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres amongst its ranks.

After months without a solid new place to call home following their departure from the Royal family, it appears that the Duke and Duchess have finally found a space they can be comfortable in.

With all this elapsed time, however, the duo hasn't even seen the Prince's mother, Queen Elizabeth, once since "Megxit" took hold, which is a fact that is seemingly set to change soon.

The news of a reconciliation comes after months of reported hostility between the couple and the core Royal family, with major reports citing a "royal feud" between Harry and his brother, Prince William.

"There were phone and video calls over the Christmas and New Year holiday and the Sussexes sent presents to the Cambridges and vice versa," a royal correspondent said in a recent interview.

"It was an opportunity in an otherwise very busy and chaotic year for both of the families to come together and connect, albeit virtually," the reporter said, adding, "Things are a lot better between William and Harry. If you go back a year at this stage, these brothers were barely on talking terms."
