PGA Tour pro, Justin Thomas, may be having a good weekend when it comes to the leaderboard, but he made a serious misstep after uttering a homophobic slur under his breath that was picked up by the microphones and broadcast to millions of people around the world. Thomas is currently tied for fifth in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, which is being played in Hawaii at The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. The incident went down in the third round of the event as Thomas attempted a putt on the 4th hole.
Justin Thomas was attempting to make a par putt no the 4th hole when he missed and the NBC microphones picked up the PGA star saying, “Fa–ot” about the shot before moving on. It wasn’t addressed during the broadcast, but after the round Thomas was asked about using the homophobic slur.
“It’s inexcusable,” Thomas said, adding, “First off I just apologize … there’s no excuse I’m a grown man there’s no reason for me to say anything like that.

Thomas, who ended the day -5 said, “It’s terrible, I’m extremely embarrassed, it’s not who I am it’s not the kind of person I am and what I do.
He admitted, “Unfortunately I did it and I have to own it up to it and i’m very apologetic.
The interviewer also asked the golf pro what he has learned from the situation:
“A lot, I’m speechless, Thomas said while appearing to get emotional.
He explained, “I found out when I got done with my round, it’s bad. theres no other way to put it, i need to do better, need to be better. it’s definitely a learning experience. I deeply apologize to everyone and anybody i offended.”
