The new broadcast direct deal is said to be non-exclusive. Under the agreement, 50 Cent and G-Unit will develop scripted series, both live-action and animated, for the Fox Network. Fox will own any series that receive the green light under the agreement, which will be produced by the in-house Fox Entertainment Studios, as well as G-Unit Film & TV. Under the agreement, 50 Cent will still be allowed to shop his producing work to other companies.
Jackson's G-Unit landed with Fox after recently departing from an overall deal with Starz. Starz had come under criticism from the artist in the lead-up to the end of the agreement. However, he's still an executive producer on Starz's "Power" franchise and also "BMF."
Issuing a statement on the news, Jackson commented, "I am excited to formalize a partnership with Michael Thorn and Fox that will allow G-Unit Film & Television to focus on putting multiple series on Fox, a perfect broadcast destination for G-Unit Film & Television content while our premium, streaming, scripted and non-scripted slates continue to grow in all directions."
Meanwhile, Fox Entertainment President Thorn added with his own statement, "Whether it’s music, film or television, Curtis always delivers premium entertainment that captivates millions of fans across the globe." He continued, "He is the rare multihyphenate with a deft hand at storytelling, no matter the format or medium, and we’re looking forward to developing new and exciting series for Fox with him and his team."
As noted by THR, Fox also has similar broadcast direct deals with writers and producers Dan Harmon ("Community," "Rick & Morty"), Rodney Rothman ("22 Jump Street," "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"), and Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI").
Besides producing "Power," 50 Cent also worked on "For Live," "Hip Hop Homicides," and the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Last year, he received a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the "Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show." The award was also shared with Jay-Z, Desiree Perez, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Dave Meyers, Aaron B. Cooke, Dr. Dre, and the performers in the show: Snoop Dogg; Mary J. Blige; Eminem; and Kendrick Lamar.
In 2010, 50 Cent won his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the track, "Crack a Battle." he shared the award with Dr. Dre and Eminem.
For fans of the "Power" franchise, "Power Book II: Ghost" will debut its third season on March 17 at midnight on the Starz app (via Deadline). The show will air on the linear network at 8:00 pm that day. The show stars Michael Rainey Jr., Blige, Shane Johnson, and Gianni Paolo. The franchise is executive produced by "Power" creator Courtney A. Kemp under her End of Episode banner, Jackson through G-Unit Film & TV, and Mark Canton under Atmosphere Entertainment MM.
