Nia Long Isn't Interested In A Serious Relationship
During a recent interview with The Cut, Long spoke about her future interest in romance. She said, "Oh God, I'm not ready for a serious relationship. My mind is not even there at all. I want to go out and have amazing, important, deep, thoughtful conversations. I want to travel."
Long continued, "I want to laugh. I want to cook with my kids and listen to music. I want a good glass of wine. I want a good goodnight kiss. Everything else will have to show itself as being that. I'm just trying to enjoy the moment."
The actress ended her engagement with Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka in December 2022. However, their rep clarified the former couple "remain fully committed to coparenting" their son Kez. Long also has an older son named Massai Zhivago Dorsey II.
News of Udoka's affair with an NBA staffer was made public in September 2022, and it led to his suspension from the team. He released an apology statement, which read, "I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team's decision."
The Affair Controversy Affected Nia Long's Son
During another interview with The Hollywood Reporter shortly after the controversy, Long opened up about how it had affected their son. She said, "I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son's face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public."
The "Are We There Yet" actress noted that nobody from the Celtics had reached out to her, even to check on the kids. Beyond her role as a mother, Long told The Cut that she's focusing on herself more, especially her film career. She said, "I have a couple of passion projects I want to get off the ground. I want to go to Bali for a month, relax, breathe, and do yoga."
She's Interested In Someone But Staying Single
During a January appearance on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Long revealed that regarding her romantic life, she has an "eye on one person" but refused to share more. The same week, Long was seen smiling and hugging singer Omarion at the premiere of her new film "You People" in Los Angeles.
The pictures and videos of Long hugging the "Distance" singer went viral on social media, sparking romance rumors. However, the "Best Man" actress quickly clarified that nothing was going on. She replied to a post on the rumors by The Shade Room on Instagram and wrote, "Everybody simmer down… I'm single AF 😘."
Nia Long Opens Up About Having More Kids
During her conversation with The Cut, Long also spoke about the difficulties she could face in having more kids in the future. She shared that after her first child, doctors warned her that she might find it hard to get pregnant again.
Long said, "I thought if it was meant to be, it would happen and I wasn't going to worry about it either way. When it happened, it was pretty exciting." The "Friday" actress said it's very important to discuss the pregnancy experience of older women and the life stages women face with age.
She said, "We should talk about menopause. We should talk about what happens when you're of a certain age and your body changes. We should talk about things for anti-aging but not where it's like,' I want to be forever young.' Let's remove 'anti-aging' and talk about what you can put into your body to preserve your quality of life."
