In 2013, Joy Behar was fired from “The View” after two of her own shows had been canceled. She told TIME magazine that one of her secrets to her success was to never take anything personally.

“I was glad to be fired,” Joy told the magazine. “I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.” When asked if she would miss her seat at the table, Joy replied, “Not really. You know what they say. The show must go off.”

Joy eventually returned to the show in 2015 and plans to stay until at least 2025 after renewing her contract last year. During a recent conversation at the Hot Topics table, via Entertainment Weekly, Joy said, "I always have friends where I work, and if I don't have friends at the job, I will not keep the job.”

“So, when I was fired last time from this show, people say to me, 'Were you okay with that?' and my answer is, I was happy because all my friends had left already,” she continued. “So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it."

Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg, who was a permanent member of “The View” by the time, didn’t appreciate that comment. She asked, “Really? All your friends left?” as the members of the live studio audience gasped in surprise.

“The Stand” actress then pretended to cry, complete with a quivering lip. “It’s okay,” she joked. “I’m cool.”

"You had just come on, and my backstage friends had left. And I don't like to work when I don't have friends," Joy added in her defense. Whoopi later added that the two have “been friends for a long time” and she was just “teasing” Joy.

That's not the only reason that Joy Behar has been making headlines recently. In another recent episode, she compared herself to the current United States President, Joe Biden!

"It's really, you know, something that is an important show in many ways," she continued. "Sometimes I don't believe that, as I've been here since the beginning, but we're the most-watched show in daytime. Most-watched!"

"I'm happy to be a part of it," she concluded. So no, I'm not going anywhere. I'm having a good time."

Whoopi Goldberg Faces More Controversy Over Holocaust Comments

Last year, Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts were discussing the Tennessee school board’s ban on the graphic novel “Maus” by Art Spiegelman, which details the events and impact of the Holocaust.

Spiegelman used animated mice to depict the genocide and the school board justified the ban by citing the “unnecessary use of profanity and nudity.” Goldberg said that the Holocaust was not about “man’s inhumanity to man.” Instead, she called it “white people doing it to white people.”

“If you’re going to do this, let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race," she added. "No, It’s not about race! It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”

Whoopi Goldberg was suspended for two weeks following the online backlash. Although many called on her to be fired, Whoopi made it clear that she wasn't going anywhere and said that the talk show would continue having “tough conversations.”
