Disney fans are headed back "Into the Unknown" as Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed there is a "Frozen" sequel currently in the works!

“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia ,” Iger said during The Walt Disney Company's Q1 Earnings Call yesterday evening. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”

Fans have been begging Disney for another "Frozen" film after the success the first two movies had for The Walt Disney Company. Starring Idinia Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Josh Gad as Olaf, and Johnathan Groff as Kristoff, both "Frozen" and "Frozen 2" broke records and won awards, leaving Disney fans wanting more.

Now, "Frozen" fans can rejoice as Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed there is a "Frozen" sequel currently in the works -- and it seems at least one member of the original cast has confirmed their return.

"Back into the unknown… #frozen3❄️," Josh Gad, voice of Olaf, wrote on Instagram using a screenshot of an article from Deadline confirming the news.

At this time, there are not many details surrounding the upcoming sequel, just that there is a sequel in the works. It is, however, expected that all four original cast members return to the franchise -- including Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Johnathan Groff, and Josh Gad.

The first “Frozen” film debuted in 2013 and instantly became a hit as it made over a billion dollars worldwide. The 2013 animated Disney movie is described as:

Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Thanks to its success, Disney released a sequel, “Frozen 2,” in 2019, which also stars, Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Josh Gad (Olaf), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), and is described as:

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.

Both films are currently streaming on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. At this time, there is no release date for the third "Frozen" film, nor is there an official title, however fans and Josh Gad himself are calling it "Frozen 3."
