Reese Witherspoon Reveals Her First Impression Of Ashton Kutcher

Despite starring in multiple romantic comedies, what many consider the rom-com "king and queen" – Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon -- have never starred in one together.

However, that is changing as after many years of wanting to work together, Kutcher and Witherspoon are finally starring in the Netflix Original romantic comedy "Your Place or Mine."

As the two begin to do press for the film, Witherspoon is admitting what her first impression was of the "No Strings Attached" actor.

Ashton Kutcher revealed that he and the "Legally Blonde" actress didn't really know each other, which was a challenge considering in the new Netflix film, "Your Place Or Mine," the two play best friends.

"We didn't know each other at all," Kutcher told PEOPLE, to which Witherspoon added, "I was worried because we were supposed to play best friends [in the movie], so we started sending videos to each other, like 30 seconds long."

Those videos actually helped Kutcher and Witherspoon "build" the onscreen relationship that the two needed in order to make this movie possible.

Prior to filming "Your Place Or Mine," Witherspoon and Kutcher only ran into each other one time -- and it was years ago briefly at a party.

"He brought his own beverages," Witherspoon said, laughing, as she recalled the first time the two met. "I thought it was endearing. Like, 'This is a quirky guy!''

Kutcher defended himself, quickly responding to Witherspoon, "It wasn't my cooler! Those were somebody else's beverages!"

Many fans have not hesitated to call out Ashton Kutcher due to his "awkward" red carpet photos while he and Reese Witherspoon were attending the Netflix film's premiere in Los Angeles last week.

The "What Happens In Vegas" actor is now speaking out regarding the reasoning behind his seemingly serious expression.

"Here's the thing: If I put my arm around her, and was like all friendly with her, I'd be having an affair with her," Kutcher explained while appearing on the "Chicks in the Office" podcast. "Like, the rumor would be that I'm having an affair with her."

Kutcher's wife, "That 70s Show" actress Mila Kunis, even joined in on the fun, emailing Witherspoon after the red carpet photos were released. "She even emailed us last night," Witherspoon said last week. "She goes, 'You guys look so awkward on the red carpet together.' "

The upcoming romantic comedy film is a Netflix Original, and will tell the story of Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher), best friends who decided to swap homes for a week. In doing so, the two get a peek into one another's lives, which may open new doors -- including a door to love.

The film also stars Wesley Kimmel, Steve Zahn, Rachel Bloom, Jesse Williams, Shiri Appleby, Zoe Chao, Tig Notaro, and Vella Lovell.

"Your Place Or Mine" will be available to stream on Netflix beginning February 10, just in time for Valentine's Day.
