American singer-songwriter Gabriella Wilson known professionally as H.E.R. has taken the music world by a storm with her unique voice and R&B styles that have gained her critical acclaim.
However, unlike most celebrities, she has managed to keep her personal life mysterious, choosing instead to let her music speak for itself.
On her anonymity choice, the Grammy award-winning singer chose a silhouette of herself in sunglasses as evident on vet album covers. Although fans love her vocals, that has not stopped the question, “who is H.E.R.?”
The Mysterious Nightingale
The world was introduced to H.E.R. in 2016 when she released her first E.P. titled “H.E.R. Volume 1.” Fans could relate to the sound without knowing the face behind it.
Despite being shrouded in mystery, critics sang the newcomer’s praises who was fast taking over the R&B music scenes and noted her as one to watch out for.
Determined to unveil the face behind the voice, media outlets finally acquiesced to defeat with “Forbes” remarking, “In the same vein as The Weeknd’s enigmatic introduction to the world, H.E.R.’s image remains a mystery.”
A Face Among Many
However, the anonymity is ironic, as her alias H.E.R. is an acronym for “Having Everything Revealed.”
On her first full-length album, H.E.R. won a Grammy for Best R&B Album. Other celebrities, including Janet Jackson and Drake, repeatedly praised her on social media as the new best thing in R&B culture, further intensifying her fans’ determination to know who she was.
According to “Oprah Magazine,” fans started to piece the puzzles together after a SoundCloud search brought up an earlier work of the artist published under her real name, putting an end to her anonymity.
The Enigmatic H.E.R.
Undeterred by her blown cover, the “Damages” singer continued to wear her dark sunglasses in public and still managed to keep her personal life private.
The R&B chart-topper was born in Gabriella Wilson Vallejo, California, in 1997. As a child, she was featured on T.V. shows and singing contests and made her first record deal in 2014 with “Sony.”
In an interview with Miami’s 103.5fm “The Beat” in 2018, she shared her decision to conceal her identity and how it fits into her music. She explained that everything about her could be revealed through her music. H.E.R., however, never confirmed her identity.
Is H.E.R. Having A Baby
The 11 times Grammy Awards nominee is very tight-lipped about her personal life. If her associates, including Drakes, Alicia Keys, and Janet Jackson, know any juicy tidbit about her, it seems they have sworn an oath of silence.
The singer's Instagram post sparked rumors that she may be pregnant and hiding a baby bump, but the rumors were never confirmed or denied.
H.E.R. was definitely not joking when she decided to keep her personal life out of public eyes as it couldn't be ascertained if she has a partner or not.
