Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter LeAnn Rimes is quite familiar with mental health struggles. This is because she rose to stardom at a very young age and had to inculcate diligence in her musical career.
In the first three years of her career as a country and pop singer, Rimes performed 500 shows that strained her mental health.
During a chat with Health, Rimes disclosed that it was a dream come true for her, as she fulfilled everything she always wanted to as a kid. She also shared a down part of living up to certain expectations, as there was pressure to live up to the “wholesome little girl with the big voice” image.
Consistent Success
According to the publication, the hard work the 38-year-old put into her music career since signing her first record deal has been overwhelming.
In the interview, the “How Do I Live” singer revealed that she was continually working. Years and years of work with little or no break to think about her feelings or needs.
Life on the fast lane eventually caught up with her, and her mental health suffered greatly. Luckily, Rimes quickly sought help when she started noticing problems by checking herself into a depression and anxiety center after her thirtieth birthday.
Holistic Approach To Health
The “Remnant” singer shared that therapy was beneficial and helped her understand her feelings. Since leaving therapy, Rimes is still dedicated to her career, but she always ensures her mental health always comes.
She also encouraged people to always seek help if they noticed any symptom of depression and asked that they prioritize their mental health and be assured that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Rimes also has a new health video series where she hosts inspiring people who talk about health.
The Mental Effect Of Psoriasis
In a personal essay for Glamour, the country music star opened up about her psoriasis diagnosis.
She revealed that her skin had been clear when she was first diagnosed, but the year’s stress, coupled with the pandemic, resulted in her first flare up in sixteen years.
In the essay, Rimes shared that most people thought she made up the disease because she never flared up. Rimes also wrote about the effect on her emotional, spiritual, and mental health, as she felt caged in.
Loving One’s Self
In an Instagram post, the “You Light Up My Life,” singer showed off her psoriasis. In the caption, Rimes said she was ready to come out of hiding as 2020 made her realize how worthy we all are without the makeup and the constant struggle for love and acceptance.
She added that she wants to acknowledge other parts of herself as she used to do everything to hide her skin condition.
She concluded and said that looking at herself now, there is so much to see aside from her skin.
