For a month,Lil Durk took a month off of social media as this was due to the murder of his close friend and fellow Chicago rapper, King Von. That was due to a shootout that occurred outside of Monaco Hookah Lounge in downtown Atlanta in the early hours of November 6.
Durk posted a photo on Instagram in tribute to Von but then deactivated his account. Durk returned this week and announced that his "The Voice" album would be out on December 24 and he has now delivered.
Durk Gives Fans Early Christmas Present With 'The Voice'
Durk's release of The Voice garnered much excitement as it was led by the singles "The Voice" and "Backdoor." The cover art for the album also featured Von and Durk together. It contains 16 tracks in total with features from Von, Young Thug, 6LACK, Booka600, and YNW Melly.
In addition toThe Voice title on the cover art, it also includes the caption "Long live grandson" above Von. An hour its release, the album began to receive positive feedback on social media.

Fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the album as they said that they are proud of Durk and are very interested in the "Still Trappin" collab with Von. "Stay Down" feat. 6LACK and Young Thug is beginning to pick up some momentum as well.
The album was almost released in September but Durk only entertained that idea to troll Tekashi 6ix9ine by putting it out on his release date.
You can hear the pain in Lil Durk’s album. He has been through so much.

Durk Also Saw Success With 'Just Cause Y'all Waited' 2 Album This Year
In May, Durk had another hot project with his "Just Cause Y'all Waited 2" album. This featured the hit single "3 Headed Goat" feat. Lil Baby and Polo G. This record went on to peak at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was recently certified platinum by the RIAA in the US.
The album as a whole debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified gold. The original Just Cause Y'all Waited was released in 2018.
Durk Was Also Featured On Drake's 'Laugh Now Cry Later' Single
In August, Durk also appeared on Drake's "Laugh Now Cry Later" single which debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100. It came close to No. 1 but Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP" was in the way.
The music video was also very intriguing as Drake and Durk appeared in it along with athletes such as Kevin Durant, Marshawn Lynch, and Odell Beckham Jr. It was filmed at the Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, OR. It's safe to say that Durk has been one of the most dominant rappers of the year.
