Emily Simpson was seen on the December 22 episode of Heather McDonald's podcast, "Juicy Scoop," and during her appearance, she opened up about her marriage to husband Shane Simpson, starting with the way in which they met years ago.
After revealing to the comedian that she and Shane crossed paths when she was right out of law school and working at a real estate firm in Orange County, California, the "Real Housewives of Orange County" cast member admitted Shane was her boss before they began dating.
Emily Simpson Believes She's 'More Driven' Than Shane
“I hate to say boss because I was smarter than him. I mean, Shane’s smart but I feel like I’m more driven and ambitious," Emily explained of their dynamic at work. "I was always telling him what to do. We worked together for three years."
According to Emily, Shane was married to his first wife at the time they met. So, initially, she wasn't attracted to him.
"I would never be attracted to someone who was married. I would never go there. But we worked together, and he’s funny," she admitted.
Emily Simpson Is Attracted To Shane's Humor
"I mean, he’s hilarious," she continued. "So we had fun working together because he would always make funny comments. He would watch the 'Real Housewives,' and we would chat about that. It was like, 2005.”
Then, after Shane got divorced, Emily said the two of them bonded as she helped him navigate family law.
"We connected even more-so when he was going through his divorce because I did have a lot of experience in family law so he would ask me about settlement or child support," she shared.
Emily Simpson Had A Rendezvous With Shane In Las Vegas Before They Wed
Eventually, Shane invited Emily to take a trip to Sin City with him.
”He was like, ‘Do you want to go to Vegas?’ So we went to Vegas. There was some kissing, but we didn’t have sex because he is Mormon," Emily explained.
Then, after a bizarre online conversation, the two of them decided to wed, on a whim.
"He says I’m the one who asked him through Google Chat. I say he asked me. But apparently through this Google Chat conversation it was like, ‘Let’s get married,’ ‘Okay.’ And we got married in Orange County a couple weeks later," she revealed.
Emily Simpson Married Shane At A California Courthouse
"We went to the court. It was just me, Shane, and his parents. And his parents, I didn’t even know them that well. I’d only met his mom one time before, can’t understand anything the woman says, at all. They take us to the courthouse in their Bentley and his mom’s all decked out. I have this dress on from Banana Republic that cost like $40," Emily recalled.
