Last year, Tom Brady announced that he would retire from the NFL, however, things quickly changed as the 45-year-old said he had change of heart, announcing he would come out of retirement to return to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady and the Bucs made it to the playoffs, though they were eliminated in the first round when they lost to the Dallas Cowboys. After Brady's season ended, NFL fans everywhere were wondering if the 45-year-old quarterback would retire once again or if he would return to the NFL next year.

Well, Brady put all of the speculation to rest when he took to social media on February 1 to announce once and for all that he is done playing football and is retiring from the NFL "for good".

But did the legendary quarterback hint that he would announce his retirement before he actually did?

Brady's Mysterious Social Media Video Days Before Retirement Announcement

Five days before Brady posted a video of him retiring from the NFL, he shared a video announcing that his company, Brady Brand, is officially available in Dicks Sporting Goods House Of Sport locations.

However, when he started the video, he said something that now has some wondering if he hinted at his retirement nearly a week before he actually did so.

"All right, big announcement!," Brady said to start his video before adding, "No, no that announcement," seemingly hinting at his NFL retirement announcement.

Fans commented on the Reel, "Not the announcement we’re looking for Tom," and "Oh, this might not be that NEWS; but this is a pretty huge deal."

The video was shared to Instagram just five days before he shared his retirement announcement.

Brady Announces Retirement "For Good"

Early morning on February 1, 2023, the 45-year-old shared a video to social media, grabbing the attention of fans all over the country as he officially announced he is done playing football.

“I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring. For good," he began the video by saying.

"I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I'd just press record and let you guys know first," Brady continued. "I won't be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me, my family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors, I could go on forever there’s too many."

Holding back tears, the former Tampa Bay Bucaneers and New England Patriots quarterback concluded with, “Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all."

Sports stars quickly took to social media to react to his announcement, including NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes who reTweeted Brady’s video and simply captioned it with three goat emojis, 🐐🐐🐐.”

And Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce wrote a kind message for the retired quarterback, saying, “The Golden Goat has called it a career. Him now gone, Him legacy shall always remain. Congrats Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. on dominating an entire era of football! @TomBrady.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammate Ryan Jensen thanked Braady for everything this season, writing, “Thanks for pushing me everyday this season mentally and physically to get back on the field. I’m glad I was able to take the field with you one last time! Enjoy retirement, don’t dog me too much in the booth. Love ya man! @TomBrady.
