Gymnast Nastia Liukin has disabled comments on her latest Instagram post after fans expressed concern about her weight.
Last week, the Russian-American former artistic gymnast shared a video that featured her getting dressed, starting with a black bra and high-waisted black pants. The video sparked concern among her fans that she was getting "too skinny."
It appears that the 33-year-old former athlete didn't appreciate the remarks her followers left, as she disabled comments on her next fashion video.
Gymnast Nastia Liukin Disables Comments After Fans Express Concern That She's 'Too Skinny'
In her latest Instagram video, the five-time Olympic medalist shared a video that featured her standing in front of the camera in a pink tank top and matching high-waisted pants.
Her long blonde hair is pulled up into a sleek bun as she shows her followers how she got ready for the day.
After buttoning up her pants, Nastia slid into an orange blazer and pulled on a pair of pointed orange heels. She then topped off her outfit with an oversized pink overcoat and an orange Jacquemus clutch bag.
In the caption, Nastia wrote, “pro tip: don’t be afraid of a little color-blocking situation.” Even though the video got plenty of likes, comments were disabled for the video. Comments are not usually disabled on her posts, which is why plenty of fans took notice.

On January 26, the 2008 Olympic all-around champion took to Instagram to share another fashion video. This one was set to the tune of Shuko, F. Of Audiotreats’ “One Two Three And.”
Nastia begins the video in a similar manner as her latest video. Her blonde hair is tied back into a sleek blonde bun. She is wearing a strapless black bra and begins the video by buttoning her high-waisted blank pants.
In the video, Nastia pulls on a long-sleeve strapless black shirt that she adjusts around her shoulders. She compliments her look with strappy pink heels and a black clutch bag before she ends the video.
In the caption, Nastia wrote, “last night’s look.” There were a few fans who loved the color scheme and her sense of style, but other fans were concerned that she was getting “too skinny.”
Fans Call Out Nastia's Weight Loss: 'Getting Skinnier Is Alarming'
There were a lot of people who had comments about Nastia’s body. Although some fans seemed to be well-meaning, other followers seemed to take things too far.
“She doesn’t even look appealing! She is skin and bone,” one user commented. “Can I buy you a meal, please?” another follower asked. “Somebody throw that girl a cheeseburger and fries with a milkshake please!” another user chimed in.
One follower told her that she is “Not promoting a healthy body image for gymnasts or people in general. You're getting skinnier and skinnier.” Another user agreed, writing, “I thought so too. Always been thin, her natural state. But getting skinnier is alarming.”
Other followers ventured that she might be struggling with an eating disorder. “Worried about your health. It’s ok to eat,” another user wrote. “You are a beautiful lady, that’s for sure, but I would say you need to put on 10 pounds. You’re getting so small,” another user shared.
However, some users tried to draw a fine line between "expressing concerns" and "passing judgments," telling followers to let those close to her express concerns if they had any.
“These comments have me absolutely irate right now. 20lbs heavier and y’all are calling her fat… now she’s too thin. She can’t win, can she?" one user asked. How about you worry about your own bodies and stop criticizing hers, considering you haven’t lived a day in her shoes… or even know her personally, for that matter!"
"Call it what it is. You’re not ‘expressing concerns…’ you’re passing judgments. Let her family and close friends express their concerns if they feel there is a reason to be concerned and keep your judgments to yourself,” they continued. “Nastia, I hope the good comments stand out more than these rude ones because you look fabulous in this outfit! Just like all the other looks you post! Love it!”
It looks like Nastia still plans to post her fashion videos... just without the comments. At least for now.
