Max Boyens Gushes Over Friendship With Scheana Shay, Calls 'Pump Rules' A 'Learning Experience'

Max Boyens and Scheana Shay seemed to have quite the awkward relationship with one another when fans first met Max on "Vanderpump Rules" season eight last year but, during a recent interview with Zack Peter on his #NoFilter podcast, he revealed that the two of them became quite close after working through their post-romance issues.
“Scheana’s been an amazing friend to me. She’s one of those girls where her friendship, you can’t deny the fact that she’s a good person. She’s a really, really good person,” Max gushed.
Max Boyens Reveals He And Scheana Shay Were Estranged For Months
According to Max, he and Scheana were "still working on [their] friendship" during season eight, which made for quite the odd dynamic between them.
"When we started dating and then when we stopped seeing each other, we didn’t talk for a fair amount of months. So when we started filming, we had to hash that out," he explained.
Luckily, after working through their drama, Max and Scheana are much "stronger."
"I talk to her every day. I see her when I can. She’s one of my best friends in Los Angeles,” Max admitted.
Max Boyens Looks Back On The Infamous Apple Watch
As "Pump Rules" fans will recall, Scheana was shamed for spoiling her former boyfriend with an Apple watch during their brief relationship. However, as Max explained, the item was nothing more than a "cute gesture."
"I always have worn watches. I go surfing so I was telling her, ‘I’m going to go buy the Apple watch on Friday. I can wear it when I go surfing.’ And then I go see her the next day and she’s like, ‘Here you go, I bought this for you,’” he shared.
Max Boyens Learned A Lot While On 'Vanderpump Rules'
Looking back on his first season of reality television, Max, who was let go from his role earlier this year, chalked up the episodes as a "learning experience."
“I think it’s a learning experience for all us newbies," he said, giving a nod to the four other cast members who joined the series for season eight. "You learn how to treat people, you learn how to act, [and] think and you watch it back like, ‘I probably shouldn’t have said that.’”

When Max was then asked about a misconception people may have about him because of the show, he admitted that not everything that aired was to his liking.
“I think that a lot of how things went down or some conversations that happened or things I even did, it portrayed me as something, you know, that I’m not. Or my friendships with the Toms. I don’t think everyone really knows, Sandoval and Schwartz are two of my closest friends. [But they didn’t] really show that on the show,” he explained.
