The pair, who have been friends for more than eight years, are both producers on Netflix's new children's show "Princess Power." While promoting the show on "Today," they announced their friendship and plan to get tattoos together later that day.
When asked how their friendship came to be, Barrymore, 47, said, "Love at first sight." The two first met when Guthrie, 51, interviewed Barrymore about her memoir. "It was the electric connection," Barrymore said. Guthrie jumped in to add, "We had a soul connection. And Drew cultivates her friendships. She waters those flowers. It means a lot to her and so we kept in touch and we meet, and we hang out."

That's when the two talked about what they planned to do later in the day together. "We're getting a tattoo," Guthrie announced. Barrymore said Guthrie's tattoo is very special. "This is my 11th or 12th and this is your," Barrymore said as Guthrie jumped in to add, "I've never had a tattoo. It's really scary."
The "Today Show" shared a photo of the finished tattoos and an explanation of what Guthrie had done on her forearm on their Instagram page. "Savannah Guthrie and Drew Barrymore have given their eight years of friendship a permanent stamp of approval," the caption began.
"The tat on Savannah's forearm is her father's exact handwriting. 'All my love.' 'He wrote a love letter to my mom and this is his writing,' she shared. 'And it’s not only his writing, so he’s with me, but I’m trying to make it my mantra for life.' 🧡"
Barrymore's tattoo was said to be centered around her children. She got three thin outlines of sardines drawn on her arm.
