Savannah Chrisley's Life Is Like 'A Slow Death; My Parents Are Gone & It’s Tough'

Savannah Chrisley is breaking her podcast silence for the first time since her parents reported to federal prison.
Todd and Julie Chrisley reported to their respective prisons on January 17th. The patriarch is at a federal prison in Florida, while his wife is located in Kentucky.
It’s been a “tough” few days and weeks for the rest of the Chrisley family, especially Savannah.
Savannah Chrisley Is Trying Her Best To "Not Break"
She recorded her January 31st episode of “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” on January 24th, exactly one week after her parents were locked up.
“Last week was the toughest week, I think, of my life and it’s been hard… it’s been hard to understand, to process and also help two kids help process what’s going on in our life,” she recalled. “On the 17th that was the report date for my parents, and never in a million years did I think I’d be talking about both of parents, one of my parents, let alone both of them, entering into a federal prison. There’s been a lot of tears shed, a lot of anger, a lot of screaming, a lot of just completely being broken.”
Grayson Chrisley Had A Breakdown & Chloe Had A Lot Of Anger
Her younger brother Grayson Chrisley, whom she has custody over, had a “breakdown” once his parents were taken in.
“Gray had a breakdown, and he’s trying to process my parents and the situation that they’re in and how that’s not the image that he wants to have of them,” the 25-year-old explained. “Grayson is 16 years old, [and] there’s so much growth going on with him right now, and it breaks my heart to know that my parents are missing out on that.”
Todd is serving a 12-year sentence with 16-months-probation, while Julie is set to serve seven-years in prison with 16-months-probation upon her release.
Both Todd and Julie have maintained their innocence and they plan to file an appeal in February.
“I’ve had to figure out how to rebuild and I feel like we’re getting there at least just a little bit,” Savannah said of her family’s situation.
Savannah recently visited both of her parents and claimed the experience “gave me hope and peace.”
“I’ve never felt the presence of Jesus more than I did in that room,” she said before adding that some people in the room are misunderstood.
It's Tough When Your Norm Of 25 Years Is No Longer Your Norm
Savannah hopes the episode will help soften her listeners and viewers judgements and hearts.
“Just saying goodbye to them from home and knowing that was the last time they potentially would be in the world, like the free world, for God only knows how long,” she explained before adding, “I will say that we’re doing okay. We’re doing okay. It’s tough when your norm is no longer your norm. What I’ve known for 25 years… my parents are gone and it’s tough.”
Life "Feels Like A Slow Death" Right Now
At this point in the podcast, Savannah was overcome by tears and emotions.
“My dad is my absolute best friend and I don’t just get to pick up the phone and call him. I don’t get to send him funny texts when something bad or something stupid or bad happens in my life. That’s what I mean when I say it feels like a slow death,” Savannah admitted. “Because in a way it is grief. Because I’m grieving my normal, I’m grieving the loss of. my parents and what I know. Take all the money away, I don’t give a crap about any of that. Take it all away, if I can just have my parents back that’s literally all that matters. I’m definitely put in a really unique situation right now. I’m helping to guide Chloe and Grayson through this process and I’m having to guide them through this process while I’m having to guide myself.”
