Zach Shallcross got his heart broken last season on "The Bachelorette" after his fantasy suite with lead Rachel Recchia.

Although at the time, neither Shallcross nor Recchia gave specifics as to what went down during the off-screen time, the now "Bachelor" lead is opening up, admitting that Recchia basically "interrogated" him behind closed doors.

The now "Bachelor" lead recently appeared on "The Ben and Ashley I: Almost Famous Podcast," where he finally revealed what happened with Rachel Recchia during her season of "The Bachelorette."

"A lot did happen last season, especially in the Fantasy Suite. Essentially what it came down to was there was a complete lack of communication," Shallcross explained to Ashley Iaconetti and Ben Higgins while on the show. "So with Rachel and I, you know, our relationship was getting stronger and stronger through the show and all of our dates -- and it would completely fall off when we wouldn't see each other or we wouldn't talk."

Thinking back to what went down behind closed doors, Shallcross recalled,  "[We] had that time to fully talk and figure things out before the most important day of our lives, possibly, and she treated me like I was a complete stranger."

He continued, "Think of it like this: you're with someone -- a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife -- and you love them and they start just interviewing you like it's your first interview at a job."

And that's what threw Shallcross off, is that he was not expecting this from Recchia after the connection he thought the two shared. "They don't even look at you the same; they don't look at you with any love and it's just, like, treating you like a stranger. And it's just, like, 'Bam, bam, bam' -- interview questions and this and that, and there was no comfort there," he told the hosts of the podcast.

The 26-year-old continued to explain how he did not want to go into specifics out of respect for Recchia, but he did add how she questioned his intentions and if he was truly ready for an engagement given his age, something he admitted to last year. Fans quickly backed up Shallcross as they pointed out Recchia was only one year older than him.

"Everything was just almost like a rapid-fire [interrogation] and nothing was ever a good answer and I was just never good enough," he continued to say while on the podcast before adding, "We were just sitting there next to each other, and it was like, 'This can't be true. This can't be how we see each other or how we spend time together. Does she even care for me in the same way I feel for her -- or even at all?!'"

"I don't want to force things and I want things to come natural," Madison told the lead after she interupted his chat with host Jesse Palmer outside of the Mansion.. "And whatever this A) might become or B) could've been, I just want to make sure you want me on this journey."

To which Shallcross then said, "My heart wasn't feeling it. I never want to force that and I don't want to put you through something that's not real because I know what it feels like to be led on and I don't want that for you. I'm sorry, I don't see a future for us."

The two hugged and Madison left the Mansion.

Zach Shallcross's season of "The Bachelor" continues on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET. on ABC.
