Margot Robbie Recalls Job Offer From Hooters At 16 After Filming Ad For The Restaurant

Hollywood star Margot Robbie has revealed that she might have followed a different career path other than acting. She shared in a recent interview that she was offered a chance to be a "Hooter Girl" after featuring in an ad for the company at the age of 16.

The actress also opened up about her role in "Babylon," sharing that she advised the film's director to cut down on the amount of coke that her character was asked to ingest. In a previous interview, she disclosed that starring in the film was quite grueling and that she was "shattered" at the end of the job.

In an interview with New Music Express, Robbie took a walk down memory lane to tell the story about how she once got offered a waitress job when she was 16 to work at the popular eatery chain, Hooters.

The actress recalled that she was offered the job after featuring as a patron in an ad for the company at the time.

Although she did not explain why she was offered the job, Robbie shared that the gesture gave her a lot to think about.

She said, "At the end of the day, they offered me a job, and I was like, 'I think this is where my career is going, and I'm going to end up working at Hooters.'"

The actress added that the restaurant franchise, which is famous for putting female employees in short and skimpy uniforms to serve its customers, did not pay her for the gig.

Elsewhere in her interview with NME, the actress opened up about her character in Damien Chazelle's film, "Babylon." She pointed out it was "fun" and "overwhelming" to star in the film and even got to give some advice to the filmmaker about her character, Nellie LaRoy.

She said, "I think the only note I gave Damien… obviously there's a lot of drugs in this movie, and I play a character who does tonnes of drugs. But he would have them rack up lines of coke that were just like the size of hotdogs."

Robbie remembered advising Chazelle to reduce the amount of coke depicted on screen because viewers might find it hard to believe. She added, "I was like, 'Damien, she'd be dead. This is an OD situation. People are going to watch this movie and know that this is ridiculous.'"

It appears the "La La Land" director did not heed the advice of the actress, as Robbie's next statement was to point out that her friends who watched the premiere noticed the insane amount of coke.

"A couple of friends last night, that was the first thing they said. They were like, 'It's a bit ridiculous how much coke there was,'" "The Wolf of Wall Street" actress recalled.

Robbie also shared that a substitute was used instead of coke in the flick, adding that the different substance did not stop the sniffing from making her uncomfortable later on.

"It was either vitamin B powder or icing sugar, or baby laxative. Either way, it does hurt after a while."

"Babylon," which is currently playing in cinemas, backdropped on 1920s Hollywood as the movie industry made massive development in its cinematography.

Apart from Robbie, the movie stars a slew of Hollywood's top-rated actors, including Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, Jeff Garlin, Max Minghella, Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, Lukas Haas, Samara Weaving, and Eric Roberts.

Despite having the best of the best around her, Robbie previously shared that their presence did not make the work any easier.

"I've never worked that hard in my life. [I was] shattered by the end of that job," the actress said during her interview with WSJ Magazine, per People.

Following her role in "Babylon," Robbie is set to star in the live-action film adaptation of the animated series "Barbie," alongside Ryan Gosling.
