Selena Gomez Is Open To A Romance With Jimmy Butler, Claims A Report

Selena Gomez has recently been linked to NBA player Jimmy Butler for the past several days but are they really on the verge of a romance?

While neither Selena nor Jimmy has spoken out about the nature of their relationship, if they even have one, an insider suggested to Hollywood Lifeon December 3 that the 28-year-old singer is hoping to spend more time with Jimmy, who plays for the Miami Heat, as she figures out if a romance would be possible between them.

“Selena thinks Jimmy is pretty cool,” but “she is not exactly ready to dive into a relationship with him,” a source close to Selena revealed to the outlet. 

That said, Selena is interested in where their relationship could take them, in terms of a romance, and “would like to hang out with him more and see what happens,” the source added.

Although Seleena would reportedly enjoy hanging out with Jimmy more in the coming weeks, it's hard to say whether he will have time. After all, the NBA season is set to start later this month.

“[Selena] doesn’t know what can happen with it all since he is about to embark on the new NBA season this month,” the source continued, noting that Jimmy's team is based in Florida while Selena resides in Southern California. 

She “isn’t really interested in anything long distance so she is trying to protect her emotions,” the source explained. “It is not serious at all right now, she is playing it as it comes but she thinks he is very nice. Only time will tell if anything comes out of it.”

As for how Jimmy feels about striking up a romance with Selena, he is said to be ready to give it a shot. 

“Jimmy is much more interested in Selena than Selena is interested in him, but he is eager to see if it goes anywhere,” a source close to the athlete shared. “Getting back to the finals and his career is very important but finding someone special is also very important. He hopes to take her out more and actually make something out if it.” 

Rumors of a potential romance between Selena and Jimmy first surfaced at the end of last month when Twitter user Chris Piro said, “Jimmy Butler and Selena Gomez weird couple man Sources: Dude just trust me."

Around the  time that Chris' tweet was shared, Selena and Jimmy were allegedly caught dining together at the Lucien restaurant in New York City on what “seemed like a date.” As Hollywood Life explained, that information was shared by the Instagram account Deux Moi but left unconfirmed.

While Selena has remained silent about the rumors, she opened up about a future romance during an interview months ago. 

“I’ve been super, super single for two years and I want to know what the love will look like next for me,” Selena said a year ago on "The Zach Sang Show."
