Kendall Roy and his eccentricities are a key component of "Succession"s story. He will do anything and everything in order to bring down his father, the Roy patriarch Logan, and do everything he absolutely can to navigate and dodge Logan's (Brian Cox) unrelenting power. He also knows how to rap, and destroy speaking engagements!

Various "Succession" cast members have commented on Jeremy Strong's (Kendall) acting methods in the past; Strong's eccentric approach to his performance was extensively covered in a 2021 New Yorker profile.

Cox and his co-star Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy) spoke at length about Strong's acting methods in the profile.

"The result that Jeremy gets is always pretty tremendous", Cox told the publication per The Blast's report on his comments, "I just worry about what he does to himself. I worry about the crises he puts himself through to prepare for this role."

"I take him as seriously as I take my own life," Strong said of his character in the profile.

Cox adds, "I just feel that he has to be kinder to himself, and therefore has to be a bit kinder to everyone else."

Culkin noted, "He puts himself in a bubble. The way Jeremy put it to me is that, like, you get into the ring, you do the scene, and at the end, each actor goes into their corner. I'm like, 'this isn't a battle, this is a dance."

Strong Did Not Feel The Profile Captured 'Who I Feel I Am And What I'm About'

The New Yorker profile would go on to generate a lot of buzz.

Its viral reception in part is due to various actors and actresses weighing in about Strong's relationship with method acting. Strong would later express that the profile failed to provide an accurate portrayal of himself to the public.

Actress Michelle Williams would come to Strong's defense. "I think that unfortunately, the word 'method' has become a buzzy one because of what happened to Jeremy Strong when he tried to describe his process. He takes his work as seriously as he takes his play," she said per Variety, via our report.

Strong would attribute the outcome of the New Yorker profile as a reflection of its writer than his authentic self. Discussing the profile with Vanity Fair, Strong explained, "The profile ultimately said more about the person writing it and their perspective, which is a valid perspective, than it did about who I feel I am and what I'm about."

Of the resulting public perception from the profile, Strong said, "The noise and the fog after it, I think it's something that, I guess, what I care about is ultimately trying to feel as free as possible as an actor. Part of that is trying to insulate yourself from all of that, and what people might say about you or think about you."

"You have to free yourself from that," Strong continued. "It was painful. I felt foolish. As an actor, one of the most vital secret weapons that you can have is the ability to tolerate feeling foolish."

The Fourth Season Trailer Is Here!

It would be an understatement to say foolish actions have gotten the Roy family to the point where "Succession" left off.

In the trailer, the Roy siblings are pressured to reconnect with their father after his actions in the season three finale, which cause the trio to face an uncertain future both personally and financially. Logan and Tom discuss the possibility of Tom and Shiv's estranged marriage ending, and whether Tom's relationship with Logan would survive the potential dissolution. Waystar Royco and fan favorite character, Geri, warns the Roy siblings the chances of ever eclipsing their father in any possible fashion, will be slim to none.

The fourth season of "Succession" will premiere on March 26th!
