Shanna Moakler Reminisces Over Sweet Messages From Mom Before Her Passing

Shanna Moakler is sharing some of her last memories with her late mother, Gail.

The reality television star's new year began roughly after her beloved mother passed away on January 3 without any warning. In an interview confirming her mother's death, Shanna called the 77-year-old a "beautiful and kind and loving woman" and appreciated the loved ones and fans that reached out and sent their condolences in the hours after her passing.

Until her mother's death, Shanna had loved her loudly across social media platforms, sharing pictures of and lauding Gail for her attributes. Going by the 1995 Miss New York USA pageant winner's recent update, she would not stop that tradition of showing off her mom any time soon.

The mother-of-three took to her Instagram Story to share a screenshot of a text exchange between her and Gail. Sending her daughter a video of a snow-blanketed road, the matriarch wrote:

"We are supposed to get snow flurries today or tomorrow. I'm kind of looking forward to it [.] I love snow." 

In response to Shanna's "Lucky," Gail revealed that she was in "such a good place right now," both mentally and physically. After declaring her love for her family, she added, "I love you honey." The model reciprocated the outpour of love, writing, "Good mom love you too," before her mom finished:

"I need my girl [.] you mean so much to me you have no idea. I am so proud of you. I am so proud to be your mama."

Although gauging her fans' reaction to the Story would be difficult, you would recall that Shanna was flooded by an outpour of love when she confirmed her mother's death. Taking to Instagram to announce the sad news, the 47-year-old uploaded multiple photos of her mom as a younger woman.

A younger version of the 1993 Miss Teen All-American titleholder appeared in some slides, beaming brightly while posing next to Gail. The former "E! 's Bridalplasty" host's caption began:

"This is the day I always feared, losing my best friend, support system and beautiful mom. I honestly can't find the words to express how loving, kind and amazing she was."

Shanna admitted that she was clueless about how to "do this life without her" and noted how "lucky" she was to have been Gail's daughter for as long as she did. "She was everything I hoped to be and I will miss her every second of everyday. I love you mom. Kiss Vo vo for me and hug mason. Please visit me in my dreams," the "Hollywood Exes" cast member concluded.

"I'm so so sorry for your loss. She sure was beautiful as are you. Keep your head up high. You'll see her in your dreams for sure," one fan confirmed in the comment section.

During what would be the duo's last Mother's Day celebration, Shanna posted an old snap of her and Gail standing outside an unidentified building. She penned beneath:

"#happymothersday @gailmoakler there will never be enough words to express how thankful I am to have you as my mom! Thank you for always standing by me and supporting me through this crazy life. I love you so much! You truly are the most amazing mother...."

The year before that, the "Meet the Barkers" star had shared a collage of photos featuring her late mom, with the caption, "Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful mom @gailmoakler how lucky I am to have a mom like you! You're my best friend and my idol! I love you so much!"

The "Pauly Shore Is Dead" actress also posted a pic of Gail and John W. Moakler III, her husband, to celebrate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary milestone.

Months before Gail's death, Shanna had shared a beautiful throwback image on her Story featuring her younger self on a tricycle while her mother monitored her movement. The Blast noted that little Shanna is seen gripping the bike's handlebars, looking away from the camera with her mouth wide open.

Meanwhile, Gail took a squat next to her daughter, placing her hand on the front of the tricycle, which appeared to be white and red. "Me with my mom," Shanna scribbled across the update, along with a laughing emoji that indicated how amusing she found the snap. 

The actress has come a long way since then, creating such memories with her three children — Atiana De La Hoya, Alabama, and London.
