Savannah Chrisley got candid about how badly she's handling her parents' absence since they began their prison sentences. Todd and Julie Chrisley began their respective sentences after being convicted of tax evasion and fraud. Savannah spoke about how difficult the week was for her family as they had to say their goodbyes.
The reality star explained that if her recent podcast episode seems happy, it's because it was filmed before her parents left. She then noted that future episodes would be more intense and feature updates on where she is in life.
Todd and Julie will also have to serve 16 months of probation each after they complete their prison sentences. Despite their conviction, the Chrisleys have maintained they're innocent of all charges and are appealing their sentences.

Savannah Chrisley Is Handling Her Parents' Absence Badly
During a recent episode of Savannah's "Unlocked" podcast, she opened up about having a "really tough" time during her parents' absence. The reality star spoke about how difficult it is for her to cope with her parents, Todd and Julie, starting their prison sentences. Savannah revealed, per Page Six, that the episode was filmed on January 12th, days before her parents reported to prison.
She said, "So for those of you that are familiar with my family and have followed our lives and have also followed my podcast, you know that last week was an extremely difficult week for my family as a whole and for each of us individually. We kind of had to say goodbye to my parents for a little bit of time, for the foreseeable future. And that was really, really, really tough."
Savannah Chrisley 'Wasn't Faced With The Reality Of The Situation'
Savannah also explained that the podcast episode only seemed "happy-go-lucky" because she finished filming it before her life started "falling apart." The "Chrisley Knows Best" star said, "I think it's because there was a lot of hope that was had, and I wasn't faced with the reality of the situation."
Savannah also noted that her next episode won't be so cheery, as it's more of a "very intense one-on-one podcast with myself kind of giving an update on where my life's at." During a previous episode with Julie, she questioned why her parents got a longer sentence than reality star Jen Shah.
Shah received a six-and-a-half-year sentence earlier this year for her telemarketing fraud scheme. Savannah said, "Put the cases side by side, and it makes no sense — it just doesn't. Hundreds of victims were elderly, and people that provided statements that lost their homes and threatened to end their lives. There were so many different things, and she got six and a half years. Make that make sense!"
Todd And Julie Chrisley Are Serving A Combined 19 Years
Todd and Julie were convicted of tax evasion and fraud in June 2022, and they're now serving a combined sentence of 19 years. Todd is serving 12 years at the Federal Prison Camp in Florida, while Julie is serving seven years at the Federal FMC Lexington in Kentucky.
After their release, the reality star couple will serve 16 months of probation each. They were originally indicted for their crimes in 2019 after they submitted fake loan application documents to banks. Julie also allegedly submitted false bank statements and credit reports to secure a rental home for their family in California.
They've Maintained Their Innocence Of All Charges
Despite their conviction, Todd and Julie have maintained they're innocent of all charges, and Savannah has supported their claims. Last week, she posted a photo of Julie on her Instagram Story, vowing to "forever fight" for her freedom and innocence.
Meanwhile, the day after their sentencing, Todd and Julie vowed to appeal their convictions and said they were "optimistic about the road ahead." Their lawyer, Alex Little, spoke to People Magazine, saying, "Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions."
