'RHOSLC' Star Mary Cosby Talks 'Weird' Marriage To Step-Grandfather, Says Wedding Night Was 'Awkward'

Mary Cosby is opening up about her controversial marriage to her step-grandfather in a just-released sneak peek at the November 25 episode of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City."
Ahead of the upcoming episode, the third of the Bravo reality series' debut season, Mary is seen sitting down with her co-star, Meredith Marks, to discuss the ins and outs of her "weird" relationship with her much older husband after confirming that she had her grandmother's blessing before she passed away.
Mary Cosby's Mother Disowned Her When She Was 19
With a laugh, Mary said in a confessional that with her grandmother's death came a new role in the church, homes, money, and her husband, Robert Sr.
“Don’t think it wasn’t weird, because it was! But I did it because I trusted my grandmother and I’m so glad I did it,” Mary explained.
According to Mary, she and her mother disconnected when she was just 19-years-old and shortly thereafter, her mom seemingly grew jealous that she wasn't chosen to marry Mary's now-husband.
Mary Cosby Admits Her Wedding Was 'Bizarre'
“It was all bizarre," Mary admitted. "I was 22 when we got married. It split our church. My mom had a fit because she wanted the church. She wanted my grandmother’s place. My mom felt she was the one who should have been marrying Robert Sr."
On the night of her wedding to her step-grandfather, Mary said that she did not sleep with her new husband because she was physically unable at the time.
"The wedding night, everything was weird,” she said.
Mary Cosby Prayed About Sleeping With Her Husband
“Thank goodness I was on my ******. And [it] lasted for like two weeks. It got awkward. I stretched it out to like 28 days," Mary continued.
Although Mary didn't initially want to sleep with her husband, she eventually was able to do so after reaching out to God with prayer.
"I had to get past that. I started to pray myself. I started to seek higher help myself and it worked out so good. Like, it couldn’t have been better,” she explained.
Mary Cosby Is Feuding With Jen Shah
During one of the first episodes of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City," Mary got on the bad side of her cast mate, Jen Shah, when she suggested that she smelled like a hospital.
In addition to the on-screen drama, the two women also feuded on social media.
