Collaborations between rappers and sneakers are now a common thing in the fashion culture. Of course, many people think first about Kanye West with the Yeezy collection, or Travis Scott with his amazing and expensive Air Jordans, or even Drake with his Nocta Hot Step Air Terras.

And when Adidas lost Yeezy, every sneakerhead thought Nike would dominate the world because Kanye West was, for them, the only real influencer the brand had. Well, these sneakerheads were wrong, because Adidas had an influencer that started to create collabs way before Kanye West left Adidas, and this influencer is of course Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny's Adidas Forum

If you know nothing about sneakers, don't worry, we're here to guide you. To give context to the Adidas Forum, it used to be a legendary sneaker back in the day. Designed by Jacques Chassaing and introduced for the first time in NBA in 1984, this shoe was a revolution when it was released because of its crisscross ankle system, which was created to relieve the player's ankle.

Because of this new system, basketball players have done incredible things on the court. But what really launched the shoe was the fact that Michael Jordan, even though he already signed with Nike, wore them for the Barcelona Olympics in 1984. Also, this pair was followed by a huge controversy when it was released because it was one of the first sneakers to be sold for more than a hundred dollars. Let's not forget sneakers in the 80s were much cheaper than today. For example,, the first Air Jordan was sold for $65.

And of course, combining such great history with an artist like Bad Bunny is the greatest idea Adidas could ever have. Its first colorway called First Cafe is now re-selling for more than a thousand dollars. Its second colorway, called Easter Egg, is re-selling for more than $800 and finally, its two last colorways named Back To School and Blue Tint are re-selling for $400. And for an Adidas Forum, it is a lot of money, even though the sneakers are cool.

The Adidas Campus Revival

Adidas ended up releasing one last colorway of the Bad Bunny Adidas Forum, a simple white pair that didn't have the success of its predecessors. It is due to the re-selling market that is not doing great these days but also to the fact that this colorway is too simple, contrary to the others that really correspond to Bad Bunny's personality.

However, Adidas, following the Blue Tint colorway release, felt like something great could happen between Bad Bunny and them in terms of hype. They felt it like Nike felt it for Travis Scott when they started to create Air Max 1s and Air Trainers instead of Air Jordans with him.

Here, Adidas decided to try this technique by reviving one of their all-time classics that still sells a lot today, the Adidas Campus. That's why last week, they decided to release the Adidas Campus Cloud White in collaboration with Bad Bunny, and it was a huge success since the sneaker was sold out instantly and is already re-selling at a nice price for those who make a business out of sneakers. However, why is Adidas doing that with their star? We just said the Adidas Campus is still selling, so what for? To dominate the world of course.

How Influencers And Artists Like Bad Bunny Can Change The Market

Bad Bunny is very important for Adidas, and here's why. What happened when Travis Scott started to release Air Jordans with Nike? Let's take the example of the Travis Scott Jordan 1 Mocha, the first Jordan 1 High created by the rapper. When it came out, the re-selling price was very high. But a few months later, Nike announced a simple Jordan 1 called Mocha, which was practically the same as the Travis Scott Mocha but without any collaboration and a slightly different design. It was just a simple general release, and its re-selling price went over $500, which is crazy.

Now, what if the same thing happens with Bad Bunny? Well, sneakers like the Adidas Forum and the Adidas Campus will end up being sold as much as Air Jordans, and that's exactly what Adidas wants. Never underestimate a power of an artist in the sneaker culture, they can do much more than you think for a simple pair of shoes. However, even if Bad Bunny is an incredible artist, it will be hard to do as much success as Travis Scott in the sneaker culture. But you never know what can happen in the fashion world, so let's watch and wear these beautiful collaborations until then.
