'The Bachelor' Star Greer Blitzer Already Under Fire For Racist Tweets

Zach Shallcross's season of "The Bachelor" premiered just a few days ago on Monday, January 23 on ABC, but it seems like one of the front-runners is already facing backlash for past Tweets.

Greer Blitzer received Zach Shallcross's first impression rose on night one at the Mansion, making her a front-runner for this season, but it seems her past is already catching up with her as she has taken to Instagram to issue an apology for a racist Tweet from 2016.

The 24-year-old medical sales rep is apologizing for past comments she has made regarding a fellow teenager who wore Blackface at a party.

"The journey to love is filled with lessons and these lessons are also made on our journey of growth. In my past, I have made some uneducated, ignorant and frankly, wrong comments on my social media accounts," Blitzer wrote on her Instagram Story. "In particular, I used misguided arguments on Twitter to defend a student who dressed in Blackface as Tupac for Halloween."

"I am deeply sorry to those I have hurt, especially those within the Black community, not because these screenshots have resurfaced, but because I ever shared these harmful opinions at all. Time and age do not excuse my actions, but this is not a reflection of who I am today," she continued.

Back in October, someone took to Reddit to share screenshots of Blitzer's racist comments, defending the fellow teenager for wearing Blackface at the party. "The students involved didn't even know what black face was so my point exactly. It wasn't an intentional racist act," Blitzer wrote on Twitter at the time according to the screenshots.

In another Tweet, Blitzer seemingly wrote, "This previous incident was dumb not racist? She did not paint herself black because she felt superior to black ppl," later adding, "Putting white powder on your face isn't okay either. That didn't make the news did it? I apologize if this offended you but you must understand it was not initially supposed to be perceived that way at all."

Greer Blitzer is a 24-year-old medical sales representative from Houston, Texas. When introducing the women ahead of Zach Shallcross's season, "The Bachelor" host Jesse Palmer said, “Greer is a bold, hilarious woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, but took a risk and moved to New York City, where she loves living life to the fullest."

Palmer added, "Greer is loyal and confident and is looking for a partner who can keep up with her quick wit and big personality. She is a hopeless romantic and is a sucker for forehead kisses. Zach, take notes! Will Greer and Zach have the love story of a lifetime?”

It is unclear how far Greer Blitzer will make it on the season, but it is clear she is already a front-runner having received Shallcross's first impression rose on night one.

Zach Shallcross's season of "The Bachelor" continues Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.
