More Details...Below.
According to reports, Duane Chapman was convicted in 1976 after a drug deal went bad and his accomplice shot and hilled a 69-year-old man.
Despite the fact Duane was waiting in the care and played no part in the actual shooting, under Texas law, Dog was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to five years in prison. To this day, he is not allowed to enter England, and it's the reason he uses pepper spray and non-lethal rounds on his television show.
After 40 years, Dog is still trying to get a pardon from his crime, so that he can become an actual police officer, something he has dreamed about since childhood.
There's More...
According to Charley Love's obituary, he started his law enforcement career in Amarillo, Texas eventually landing in Pampa, Texas working for the Pampa Police Department.
"He loved fishing, and hanging out with his family and friends. He had countless stories and jokes. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt of his back. He had a very kind soul. He always saw the best in people, and did what he could to help anyone that needed it," the obit reads.
It continued, "After a while, his family moved to Pampa, Texas where he served many years as an officer and lieutenant for the Pampa Police Department. He helped solve countless crimes. He was always a hard worker and took pride in his job."
As you know, Dog has since devoted his life to busting bad guys and continues to this day.
