"Persuasion" star Dakota Johnson recently quipped about almost being another woman Armie Hammer "tried to eat." The jibe comes nearly a year after the actor was accused by a woman named Effie of brutal rape and several instances of abuse in their relationship.
The duo reportedly met on Facebook in 2016 and dated for four years after. While Hammer vehemently denied the accusations, Effie claimed it was so bad she contemplated suicide. The actor was also accused of abuse and inflicting bodily harm on his partners by ex-girlfriends.

Dakota Johnson Made A Cannibalism Joke About Armie Hammer
On Thursday, Johnson gave celebrities a taste of her comedic side at the Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance event, which IMDbPro presented. While congratulating Luca Guadagnino, the director of "Call Me By Your Name," the actress joked about Hammer, who starred in the movie. Guadagnino was given the Sundance Institute International Icon Award.
Johnson revealed, per Page Six, that she was almost cast in the film as the iconic peach; however, she had to bail due to their conflicting schedules. "Sadly, I wasn't in ['CMBYN']. Luca had asked me to play the role of the peach, but our schedules conflicted," she said. "Thank God, though, because I would've been another woman that Armie Hammer had tried to eat."
In a particularly raunchy scene in "Call Me By Your Name," Hammer almost eats a peach Timothy Chalamet's character, Elio, had used sexually. The scene is one of the stand-out parts of the critically acclaimed film.
Johnson's joke got only a few laughs and some applause at first; however, as more people seemed to get the joke, more cheers and applause rang out in the crowd. The actress added, referring to Guadagnino's "Bones and All," "Who knew cannibalism was so popular?"
Armie Hammer Was Accused Of Rape And Abuse
In March 2021, "The Social Network" star Hammer was accused of violent rape and several instances of abuse "mentally, emotionally and sexually" throughout their four years together. The accuser, who only gave her first name, Effie, dated the actor on and off from 2016 to 2020.
While talking about the incident, she claimed that she feared for her life as the actor became "increasingly more violent." "I thought he was going to kill me," Effie said per Page Six.
Recalling the alleged rape incident that happened on April 24, 2017, Effie said that Hammer had "repeatedly slammed my face against the wall," leaving her bruised and battered. She added that she "lost interest in living" and "just wanted the pain to stop."
He Denied The Accusations
Hammer denied every accusation thrown against him by Effie, stating that their interaction over the years was entirely consensual. The statement read, "From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [Effie] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory."
It continued, "[Effie's] attention-seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve."
Besides Effie, Hammer's ex-girlfriends, Courtney Vucekovich and Paige Lorenze accused him of different forms of abuse. Talking to Page Six in January 2021, the Flashd owner, Vucekovich, claimed that during their relationship, the actor would tell her that he wanted to "barbecue and eat" her.
"He said to me he wants to break my rib and barbecue and eat it," Vucekovich recalled. "'F**k that was weird,' but you never think about it again. He says, 'I want to take a bite out of you.' If I had a little cut on my hand, he'd like suck it or lick it. That's about as weird as we got."
Armie Hammer Allegedly Branded His Ex-Girlfriend
Hammer's ex-girlfriend, Lorenze, also accused the actor of abuse. According to Page Six, she claimed that Hammer used a knife to carve the letter "A" on her upper thigh. The patch of skin was apparently located close to her vagina and the actor regularly resorted to bruising her as a means of branding.
Lorenze said Hammer intended for her to be proud of the markings and didn't want her to see other people, "He wanted me to show them off and be proud of them. I said, 'How am I supposed to see other people when I have bruises?' He said, 'That's the point.' I think it was a part of marking and branding."
The actor is currently under investigation by the LAPD and has been in hiding since news of his activities circulated. He is reportedly in the Cayman Islands, the same place Elizabeth Chambers, his estranged wife, and two children live.
