Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curtis recently went under heavy fire on Twitter due to a photo she posted of her office space. The controversial photo showed off Curtis' office decor, which included a portrait of a naked child in a box. The actress has since been heavily criticized in several tweets.

The controversial portrait was reportedly taken by photographer Betsy Schneider, who once worked as an assistant to Sally Mann.

Shortly after the controversy, Curtis issued an apology statement in which she gave more context to the portrait. The actress revealed that it was simply a photo a mother took of her child playing in a tub of water in their backyard.

Earlier this month, Curtis was heavily criticized on Twitter after she posted a photo of her office space on Instagram and Facebook. The picture showed off Curtis's decor, including an odd portrait of a naked child in a box filled with water. However, the focus of the post was meant to be the "beautiful Pollack chairs" placed around her office table.

Curtis captioned the now-deleted post (per NYP), "Ok. This is a weird post. But I have Covid, so f**k it. During one of the SAG nomination panels for @everythingeverywheremovie I told the story of how I ended up with my office furnished with my beautiful Pollack chairs from that movie."

Despite the star's caption, people could only focus on the controversial portrait hanging just above the table.

Right-wing activist and attorney Rogan O'Handley also made a viral tweet calling out Curtis.

Thousands of tweets soon popped up debating the controversial photo and why Curtis would choose to decorate her office with it. Conservative broadcaster Stew Peters went as far as comparing the 63-year-old actress to convicted pedophile Jeffery Epstein, who died in custody in 2019.

Epstein was a broker, financier, and socialite that was involved in several child prostitution, pedophilia, and sex trafficking. He was also known to possess explicit art showing children in a sexual nature. Peters's tweet read, "Why does Jamie Lee Curtis have a picture of a naked child stuffed inside a suitcase on her wall [?]. Strong Epstein vibes."

The controversial photo of the naked child has since been revealed to have been the work of photographer Betsy Schneider. According to NYP, Schneider notably used to work as an assistant to famous photographer Sally Mann. She is yet to make any statements on the controversial portrait and the attacks on Curtis.

On Thursday afternoon, Curtis posted an apology statement and offered more context into the controversial portrait. She wrote, "Last week, I posted a picture of some chairs that included a photograph on the wall by an artist that was gifted to me 20 years ago. I understand it has disturbed some people. As I have said, I am a truth-teller so here's the truth."

The "Everything Everywhere All at Once" actress continued, "It's a picture of a child, taken by her mother, of her playing in their backyard in a tub of water. Nothing more, nothing less." Curtis further explained that she deleted the post because she didn't "want to keep something up that upset anyone."

The actress said she only wanted to show off her office space to her fans and the public in the interest of being transparent. Curtis also clarified that the post was meant to highlight the chairs in the mid-century office set.
