Tyler Johnson Announces Exit From 'The Young And The Restless'

There are shake-ups happening behind the scenes at "The Young and the Restless."

Actor Tyler Johnson is exiting the role of Theo Vanderway. The star announced the news via Twitter on Monday night.

Although fans had a love and hate relationship with his character, Johnson became a fan favorite with viewers, who applauded his acting.

Since joining the show in June 2019, Johnson has been a key player in the younger scene. But with the news of his upcoming departure, fans are wondering what's in store with the character's current stories.

The character of Theo Vanderway was introduced to "The Young and the Restless" viewers int he summer of 2019.

He was a friend of Kyle Abbott, and the two had a tumultuous relationship. Theo often taunted Kyle about his bad boy past, including an incident from New York.

Theo had a brief romance with Summer Newman, but that came to an end when it was evident she was still in love with Kyle. Theo did go on to form a bond with Kyle's wife Lola Rosales, which infuriated the younger Abbott.

Kyle and Theo's feud further intensified when it was discovered that Theo's late father was the son of Dina Abbott, making Theo and Kyle cousins.

In recent months, Theo has been in quite a few storylines.

His feud with cousin Kyle continued in and out of the workplace. After Kyle fired him from Jabot, Theo quickly landed a job at Chancellor Communications. 

Theo's personal life also heated up when he started dating a newly single Lola. However, their budding relationship was diminished due to Lola's unresolved feelings for Kyle.

Recently, Theo's found himself in some family drama. After being shunned by the Abbott family following Dina's death, Theo has decided to take matters into his hands.

Feeling left out, Theo is now suing the Abbotts for a portion of Dina's estate. This of course is causing more tension between Theo and Kyle, not to mention with his Uncle Jack.

No word has been given about Theo's final air date, but fans are already speculating about the character's exit.

Rumors are swirling that Y&R is planning to kill off a Genoa City resident. With news of Johnson's departure, many believe that Theo will be the one who is murdered.

However, others believe that Theo will receive a portion of Dina's estate. After getting a settlement, Theo will say goodbye to Genoa City and start a new life in another city, leaving the door open for a potential return.

Johnson's announcement left Y&R fans stunned.

With the addition of Sally Spectra to the show, viewers were hoping for a romance between her and Theo. But it looks like that isn't happening.

Following the news of his upcoming exit, fans immediately flooded his Twitter feed.

A majority of the replies were positive with fans offering well wishes and thanking him for his time on the show.

Johnson is remaining upbeat about the situation. In a Twitter post, he said "this isn't an end, but a new beginning." 

Although he'll no longer be on Y&R, it's only a matter of time before Johnson lands his next role.
