Kate Beckinsale isn't Little Miss Popular right now. The British actress has sparked outrage on her Instagram after revealing her "transvestite" Halloween costume, with the platform seemingly not appreciative of the 47-year-old's 2020 look. Kate, channeling "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in a sparkly, fishnets-clad getup, did a great job of shouting out Nell Campbell's 1975 character, but the "Underworld" star is now being mega-slammed for her caption. 2020 social media isn't what is was ten years ago, with the comments section exploding. Check out the drama below.

Scroll for the photo and a video. Kate kicked off two days ago with gal pal Nina Kate and showing her 4.4 million followers a figure-flaunting look. The actress, still in the news for her recent split from 23-year-old toy boy Goody Grace, had posed tipping her glittery gold top hat, with the headwear matching a cropped shimmer jacket worn over a multicolor bodice and stipey colorful shorts. A short red wig, heavy makeup, and a bold red lip completed the look, with Nina seen in blue.

Kate had captioned her intro photo: "Should ideally have met in primary school, making up for it now. Happy almost Halloween- DON’T DREAM IT,BE IT ??? #2kates."

The backlash really ramped up via Kate's video, a follow-up of the same look and seeing the star lounging around on her couch as she wrote: "Don’t care how sweet a 'crossdresser' [edited] either of us is, it’s still a bugger getting the TV to work."

The most-liked comment now sees Beckinsale politely reminded that the lingo might not be appropriate for everyone. Scroll for her response after the video.

The user, seemingly acknowledging that Kate meant no ill-will, nonetheless offered a PC reminder;

"Hey i know u probably didn’t mean any harm by this but transv*stite is considered a slur in the trans/lgbt community so we’d appreciate it if you could delete the caption or redo it."

Given that the caption now reads "crossdresser" with what appears to be an edit, it can be assumed that Kate took on-board the suggestion. In fact, the "Pearl Harbor" star offered a reply, seemingly both a defense and an apology.

Kate, opening by saying she found it "sad" that since 1975, "The Rocky Horror Show" has symbolized inclusivity, adding that it "celebrated the offbeat, all forms of sexuality, and brought together all sorts of unlikely people in its humour, campness and celebration of the non mainstream."

Beckinsale didn't want to see all that be "[eclipsed]," however she was willing to "respect" if "someone feels offended" – the response closed with a slight hint of aggression, though, as Kate said she would still "urge not to lose the big picture."
