Ready or not, Kim Kardashian is blazing in full force to collect historical memorabilia!
When you are as celebrated and affluent as the former Mrs. West, the word "impossible" does not exist. With the right connections and wealth, there is nothing the Queen of reality TV cannot achieve, especially when it comes to fancy accessories.
After causing a stir at the 2022 Met Gala by donning a historic Marilyn Monroe dress, the headline maker is back at it with another iconic purchase. The 42-year-old reportedly bought a necklace worn by the late Princess Diana, and fans are livid.
Kim Kardashian Continues Chasing Famous Antiques Worn By Deceased Stars
It is no secret that fitting her famous derrière into the "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" star's dress did not sit well with fans. The majority believed the late actress's legacy should have been preserved and not tainted by another person.
The incident may have occurred months ago, but the story remains fresh in the minds of genuine Monroe admirers and critics. Now, Kardashian is bringing yet another dramatic fashion story to 2023. It seemed the mother-of-four enjoys causing a stir with her antique collection.
TMZ recently reported that the California bombshell acquired a new piece of jewelry, adding another exquisite piece to her growing hoard of memorabilia. The accessory was the iconic diamond cross necklace once worn by Princess Diana.
In 1987, the late Princess of Wales rocked the famously dubbed Attallah Cross at a charity ball in London. The crucifix pendant was designed by the jewelry company Garrard, who loaned the accessory to the late royal. The piece featured beautifully encrusted amethyst gems, diamonds, and gold lining.
The late princess combined the eye-catching piece with an Elizabethan-style gown consisting of purple and black velvet materials. She rocked the crucifix with a long pearl necklace, so the pendant hung low towards her waistline.
This daring style from the 80s made Diana a showstopper of her generation, making the Attallah Cross an item of significant value. Decades later, Kardashian won the rare diamond-encrusted necklace for $197,453 at the Sotheby's auction on January 18.
According to the news outlet, the KKW Beauty founder has similarly won items belonging to stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie O, and more. This proves that money can buy a person happiness or at least famous jewelry.
Fans Are Not Happy With Kim K's Latest Stunt After Her Marilyn Monroe Fiasco
According to the cries of fans on Twitter, being rich does not mean an individual is entitled. Royal Family reporter Omid Scobie confirmed the news of Kardashian's new ownership of the Attallah Cross on the social media platform, and his tweet caused an uproar.
Several people aired grievances about the TV personality's latest purchase. One person shared a video of the actress Linda Henry angrily smashing glass bottles alongside the words: "Kim Kardashian owning Princess Diana's cross necklace has put me in a vile mood."
Another fan echoed similar thoughts, accusing the beauty mogul of ruining Monroe's gown and buying Diana's necklace just to be "iconic." More people supported this idea, with one person writing, "Kim Kardashian is really trying to ruin every iconic fashion piece to ever exist," while another noted the 42-year-old would damage the crucifix like the late actress's dress.
The slam dunks did not end there, as a fan hilariously claimed the mother-of-four would take her antique collection to new heights. The individual tweeted, "watch next month Kim Kardashian will take the Annabelle doll and use it as an accessory."
Even a SKIMS founder follower could not support the entrepreneur as the Twitter user admitted their idol might be going overboard. The fan's lengthy message read:
"Everytime Kim Kardashian destroys an iconic piece of clothing I've thought yall were overreacting cos 90% of yall wouldn't have even known about the clothing beforehand, and it's just a material object. But her even touching this one is triggering my fight or flight."
Contrary to popular belief, Kardashian did not destroy Monroe's iconic dress. Per The Blast, claims of damages came from a fan page called The Marilyn Monroe Collection. However, representatives of Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum debunked these claims.
According to the organization, they loaned the media personality the outfit for promotional purposes at the Met Gala. However, the California native did not "damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn."
