Social media users are having a field day trolling Tory Lanez for his latest addition to his legal team.

Although the rapper was found guilty of three felony charges concerning the 2020 shooting of Meghan Thee Stallion last December, he is not backing down without a fight. To that end, he recently hired another well-known attorney to help him appeal the verdict as soon as possible. However, the practical move became a talking point when critics learned about the lawyer's monthly fees.

Tory Lanez Slammed For Paying Jose Baez An Outrageous Monthly Wage

It appeared that Lanez — real name Daystar Peterson — is taking no chances regarding his possible prison term. As it stands, the "In For It" rapper could face a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison and possible deportation back to Canada after he serves his term.

To avoid that, the 30-year-old has hired a lawyer that he thinks could "save" him, Jose Baez. If you missed it, Baez was the brains behind Ohio-native Casey Anthony's acquittal in 2011.

The now-36-year-old had avoided prison and the death penalty following allegations that she murdered her two-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie. Asides from that, the National Trial Lawyers Association lauded Baez as one of the "Top 100 Trial Lawyers" for four years consecutively — a brag that does not come cheap.

In fact, Daily Loud tweeted that the criminal defense lawyer was allegedly getting a $200,000 monthly payday from Lanez. Within hours of the news going live, trolls trooped into the replies with their best jokes and banter.

One Twitter user uploaded a clip of comedian Druski on the phone with a "client," who he tells, "We got good and bad news. Good news, we got your payment, buddy. Bad news, they gave you life. Sayonara." He captioned it: "Tory's lawyer after pretending to work on his case for 12 months ?."

"Imagine spending all that money, only to bag more time. I love Tory Lanez's music but his attitude is something he needs to fix. Still disappointed with how this whole Megan saga played out," another Twitter user ranted.

A third person told Lanez, "Shiiiet. Better be coming like this nigga for 200K a month ??‍♂️:" alongside a picture of "Power" character Joe Proctor making a gesture at his client, Ghost.

A fourth user noted, "Dude is gonna go broke and STILL be in jail ?," and a fifth added, "Then he probably got better ways to defend Tory than his last one. "he could not have shot her because he is 5'3" LMAO." "I tell you what, he better move haven [sic] and h*ll at the same dam time for this much!" a sixth observer exclaimed.

A seventh person joked, "Lawyer better get this N***a freedom, a U.S. citizenship and a lifetime supply of Oreos for all of that money." An eighth critic wanted to know why Lanez was "wasting what he has left." Meanwhile, yet another Twitter user was confused about the rapper's hairline, asking "Man whose hair is on the side of Tory's head."

The 'Broke In A Minute' Hitmaker's Father Vehemently Opposes The Court's Verdict

The Blast reported that a Los Angeles jury found Lanez guilty of discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic handgun, and carrying a loaded and unregistered gun in a vehicle. The jurors agreed with the prosecution's theory that the 30-year-old wounded Megan's feet after he fired five shots at her in a fit of rage.

The pair were allegedly caught in a drunken argument following a party at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills home in July 2020. However, the situation intensified when both rappers began taking shots at their music careers.

The unexpected verdict immediately threw his family into a tantrum, with Lanez's father, Sonstar Peterson, angrily lashing out at the jurors. The former pastor had called the court system "wicked" and labeled two of the prosecutors "evil," leading to him being forcibly removed from the courtroom.

Just hours before that, Lanez had been all smiles as he held his son and told cameras that he felt optimistic about the day. Although the Houston hottie looked vibrant in a purple suit and pants as she exited the courtroom, she avoided addressing the legal battle with the press and members of the public.

Lanez's sentencing will be done at a later date.
